The analgesic efficacy of transverse abdominis plane block versus epidural analgesia

open access: yesMedicine, 2018
Background: The aim of the study was to compare the analgesic efficacy of epidural analgesia and transverse abdominis plane (TAP) block. TAP block has gained popularity to provide postoperative analgesia after abdominal surgery but its advantage over ...

Regional anesthesia options in managing mastectomy: A case series

open access: yesBali Journal of Anesthesiology, 2020
Regional anesthesia can be a choice of technique in mastectomy surgery. The paravertebral block provides a safer setting by maintaining stable hemodynamic compared to thoracic epidural block and less of opioid needed in the postoperative period.

Hypotension associated to a bilateral quadratus lumborum block performed for post-operative analgesia in an open aortic surgery case [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Anestesiologia, 2018
Background and objectives: Bilateral quadratus lumborum block has been described for major abdominal procedures when sepsis is present, because risks associated to epidural are considered elevated.

Benefits of thoracic epidural analgesia in patients undergoing an open posterior component separation for abdominal herniorrhaphy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
INTRODUCTION: The implementation of open posterior component separation (PCS) surgery has led to improved outcomes for complex hernias. While the PCS technique has been shown to decrease recurrence rates, and provide a feasible option to repair hernias ...

3D‐Printing of Electroconductive MXene‐Based Micro‐Meshes in a Biomimetic Hyaluronic Acid‐Based Scaffold Directs and Enhances Electrical Stimulation for Neural Repair Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study combined microscale 3D‐printing with 2D Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets to produce electroconductive microfibrous micro‐meshes. By embedding these MXene‐functionalized micro‐meshes within a growth‐supportive macroporous extracellular matrix (ECM)‐based biomaterial, multifunctional biomimetic MXene‐ECM scaffolds were developed.

Robotic Interventional Needle Insertion Assisted by a Cable‐Driven Parallel Robot

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents a body‐mounted cable‐driven parallel robot assisting the needle insertion procedure designated for automated interventional pain therapy. The 3D‐printed robot body and multiple thin cables can achieve high X‐ray compatibility for intervention. The robot performs full 6‐degree of freedom needle insertion and remote center of motion

Exploration of High and Low Frequency Options for Subperception Spinal Cord Stimulation Using Neural Dosing Parameter Relationships: The HALO Study

open access: yesNeuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface, EarlyView., 2021
Abstract Objectives Subperception spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is described mostly utilizing waveforms that require high energy. However, the necessity of these waveforms for effective subperception has not been established. We aimed to explore whether effective subperception pain relief can be achieved using frequencies below 1 kHz.

Management of Cardiovascular Health Issues in Turner Syndrome: Expert Insights and Expanded Recommendations From the 2024 Guideline Development Team

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part C: Seminars in Medical Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Turner syndrome (TS) is frequently complicated by congenital heart disease (CHD). While left‐sided lesions such as bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) and coarctation of the aorta are the most common structural heart lesions in TS, other anomalies, such as aortic arch malformations, hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), persistent left superior vena
