The Lung Microbiome Modulates Pain‐Like Behavior Via the Lung–Brain Axis in a Nitroglycerin‐Induced Chronic Migraine Mouse Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Intratracheal neomycin alters pulmonary microbiota, activating the vagus nerve via lung brain‐derived neurotrophic factor/tropomyosin receptor kinase B (BDNF/TrkB) pathway, further projecting to nucleus of solitary tract (NTS), then dorsal raphe nucleus (DRN), where activated serotoninergic neurons increase brain serotonin, alleviating migraine.

Screening for HLA-B*1502 Polymorphism in Febrile Seizure Predicted Lead to Epilepsy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Mutation in neuronal sodium channel -1-subunit gene (SCN1A) and neuronal sodium channel -1-subunit gene (SCN1B) has been linked with forms of generalized epilepsy with febrile seizure plus (GEFS+) and epileptic infantile syndrome like severe myoclonic ...

Micro‐Coil Neuromodulation at Single‐Cell and Circuit Levels for Inhibiting Natural Neuroactivity, Neutralizing Electric Neural Excitation, and Suppressing Seizures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Micromagnetic stimulation (µMS) offers a precise method for neural inhibition, complementing existing neuromodulation techniques. Using an implantable micro‐coil device, µMS selectively suppresses cortical activity with high spatial resolution. It effectively counteracts micro‐electrode stimulation and reduces seizure amplitude, highlighting its ...

Photo‐Biomodulation of the Hippocampus Using Near‐Infrared Laser to Enhance Cognitive Function in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here a transcranial photo‐biomodulation approach is developed using near‐infrared (NIR) laser on hippocampus of mice, revealing significant improvements in learning and memory ability of mice under normal and disease conditions. The improvement results from the high‐density cell‐induced NIR local energy deposition, neuronal activation, and axonogenesis

Digital cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia – The first Georgian version. Can we use it in practice?

open access: yesInternet Interventions, 2019
Insomnia is a common sleep disorder which has a 5–6% prevalence rate and shows high social impact. At least 10% of patients with insomnia will see a medical specialist. Hence, 20,000–40,000 people in Georgia require medical help for insomnia.

Impairment of unconscious emotional processing after unilateral medial temporal structure resection

open access: yesScientific Reports
The role of the amygdala in unconscious emotional processing remains a topic of debate. Past lesion studies have indicated that amygdala damage leads to impaired electrodermal activity in response to subliminally presented emotional stimuli.
