From Stream to Bloom: Exploring the Potential Role of Aquatic Insects for Pollination in Wetland Environments

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 149, Issue 5, Page 711-724, June 2025.
ABSTRACT The substantial loss of insects we are experiencing today has been highlighted all over the world. There is a growing concern about the global decline of pollinators and its impact on terrestrial and agricultural ecosystems, but the focus of scientists towards bees remains the rule.

Formation of a life strategy in plant species from technogenic ecotopes by the example of short-rhizomatous Orchids

open access: yesТрансформация экосистем
The paper presents the results of the analysis of a life strategy formation in plant species under conditions of anthropogenically transformed ecosystems by the example of short-rhizomatous orchids: Epipactis atrorubens, Epipactis helleborine, Neottia ...

Род Epipactis Zinn (Orchidaceae) во флоре России

open access: yesTurczaninowia, 2018

[PDF]

open access: yesMunibe Ciencias Naturales, 2018
Se comentan alrededor de 75 taxones de plantas vasculares raras o escasas en la Comunidad Autónoma Vasca (CAPV) y en territorios limítrofes de las cuales la mayoría de ellas han sido localizadas en el territorio histórico de Bizkaia.

Developing and Validating Species Distribution Models for Wetland Plants Across Europe

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2025.
We fitted species distribution models (SDMs) for 265 wetland plant species in Europe. We validated predicted occurrences using independent data. The SDMs showed a high predictive performance, such that our SDMs can be used to predict broad‐scale distributions of wetland plants.

First record of Epipactis veratrifolia Boiss. & Hohen. (Orchidaceae, Epidendroideae, Neottieae, Limodorinae) from an arid wadi in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates [PDF]

open access: yesCheck List, 2018
Epipactis veratrifolia is recorded for the first time from Jebel Hafeet, a mountain in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). This species had been previously recorded from the northern part of the UAE and other areas on the Arabian&nbsp ...

Population viability of the orchid Gymnadenia conopsea increases with population size but is not related to genetic diversity

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 3, Page 635-648, March 2025.
Population viability of the long‐lived orchid Gymnadenia conopsea increased with population size, but not with genetic diversity. Larger populations had higher and more stable adult survival, suggesting favourable habitats that buffer effects of climatic variation.

Orchid Mycorrhizal Communities Associated With Orchis italica Are Shaped by Ecological Factors and Geographical Gradients

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 52, Issue 3, Page 544-557, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim The influence of mutualists on plant distributions is only beginning to be understood. Orchids depend on orchid mycorrhizal (OrM) fungi to germinate, yet the distribution of OrM fungi and how they vary according to both abiotic and biotic factors is unclear.

Aerial litter mimicry: A novel form of floral deception mediated by a monoterpene synthase

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 2, Page 302-321, February 2025.
We report the first pollination system in which a flower imitates aerial litter, which refers to the arboreal plant litter in a forest. Our findings demonstrated that Meiogyne heteropetala flower fooled the aerial litter specialist Loberus sharpi by mimicking aerial litter in size, colour and odour.
