Morphological responses of a submerged macrophyte to epiphyton
Aquatic Ecology, 2009Epiphyton might have distinctive influence on the morphology of substrate macrophyte. In this article, we evaluate the influence of epiphyton on the morphological characteristics of their substrate submerged macrophyte, Potamogeton perfoliatus under two light intensities.

Relationships between epiphyton and macrophytes (Characeae) in tropical reservoirs
We analyzed structural attributes (epiphyton composition, richness, density, biomass, and life forms) involved in interactions between the epiphyton and Characeae (Chara and Nitella) in 19 tropical reservoir environments, 7 with the presence of Chara, 7 with Nitella, and 5 with both genera.

The contribution of epiphyton to the primary production of tropical floodplain wetlands [PDF]
AbstractTropical floodplains are one of the most productive ecosystems on earth. Studies on floodplain productivity have primarily focused on trees and macrophytes, rather than algae, due to their greater biomass. However, epiphyton—algae and bacteria attached to the submerged portion of aquatic macrophytes—is a major source of energy in many tropical ...

Effects of epiphyton onPotamogeton crispus L. leaves
Microbial Ecology, 1981Potamogeton crispus L. grows as a winter producing annual in the shallow lakes of the Pongolo Floodplain, South Africa. Colonization of leaves by algal and bacterial epiphytes, as seen by scanning electron microscopy, followed the established pattern of increasing diversity and density with leaf age.

Epiphyton of oligotrophic lakes of Leningrad region
Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии), 2021Here are results of investigation of taxonomic composition, community structure and dominant species of epiphytic algae in 12 oligotrophic lakes located in different geomorphic regions of Leningrad region. In summer epiphytic communities there were 385 algal taxa, they belonged to 6 taxonomic divisions: Cyanophyta (Cyanoprokaryota) – 50 (13 ...

Interrelationships among the Epipelon, Epiphyton and Phytoplankton in a Eutrophic Lake
International Review of Hydrobiology, 1986AbstractData from simultaneous studies of three algal communities (phytoplankton, epipelon and epiphyton) in an edaphically eutrophic lake are compared. Comparisons include both physical and chemical parameters along with those involving the biota.

A note on ‘stomaching’ for the quantitative sampling of epiphyton
Freshwater Biology, 1986SUMMARY. 1. Methods for the quantitative removal of epiphyton from Cladophora glomerata were compared.2. Stomaching for 3–5 min effected maximum epiphyte release. Agitation for up to 40 min in water or hydroiysing solutions of hydrochloric acid or F.A.A. removed significantly fewer epiphytes.3.

Epiphyton Geochemistry in the Ivankovo Reservoir
Water Resources, 2018Epiphyton chemistry was studied in the Ivankovo Reservoir; a large number of micro- and macroelements (Ag, Al, As, Ba, Ca, Cd, Ce, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, La, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Nd, Ni, P, Pb, S, Sc, Sr, Ti, V, Y, Yb, Zn, W) were determined with the use of up-to-date analytical methods.

A freshwater analog for the production of Epiphyton‐like microfossils
Geobiology, 2019AbstractCalcified microbial microfossils—often interpreted as cyanobacteria—were important components of Precambrian and Paleozoic limestones, but their paucity in modern marine environments complicates our ability to make conclusive interpretations about their taxonomic affinity and geologic significance. Freshwater spring‐associated limestones (e.g.,

The composition of diatoms in epiphyton of the Shchugor River (Urals, Russia)
Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии), 2019In epiphyton of the Shchugor River 143 species (with varieties and forms) of diatoms from 49 genera, 21 families were identified. Families Fragilariaceae Achnanthidiaceae, Gomphonemataceae, Naviculaceae, Bacillariaceae, Eunotiaceae include 10 and more taxa. Genera Gomphonema (11), Eunotia, Nitzschia (10 species) are predominate.
