Histological AI‐Assisted Analysis Outperforms Pathologist Assessment in Predicting Disease Outcomes in PSC Patients

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
Analyzing liver histology with AI assistance demonstrates superior prognostic performance compared to manual scoring in PSC. AI‐measured portal inflammation, fibrosis, biliary epithelium, and blood vessels predicted key clinical endpoints, such as liver transplantation due to end‐stage liver disease, highlighting the importance of liver histology as a ...

Diagnostic impact and reproducibility of p53 immunohistochemistry in Barrett's oesophagus: results of the Dutch Esophageal Pathology Panel (DEPP)

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Structured p53‐IHC in Barrett's oesophagus supports diagnostic decision‐making. In 1,146 cases, agreement between referring hospitals and the expert panel was moderate‐to‐substantial (κ = 0.61), with 24.2% of p53‐based classifications revised. Interobserver agreement among expert pathologists was substantial (κ = 0.65).

Traditional serrated adenoma of the colorectum: Evolving concepts in histological classification and terminology

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
The definition of the colorectal traditional serrated adenoma (TSA) has evolved to recognize a broader morphological spectrum, including classical, flat and mixed lesions reflecting early development and neoplastic progression. Updated WHO classification highlights the need for consistent terminology to improve recognition and to distinguish TSA from ...

Hippo pathway disruption and YAP1 activation in anogenital papillary squamous intraepithelial lesion

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Disruption of the Hippo Pathway with YAP1 activation is a consistent finding in papillary squamous intraepithelial lesions and may underlie their altered epithelial maturation and HPV E6/E7 expression patterns, providing new insight into the pathogenesis of this distinct low‐risk HPV‐associated lesion.

Soft‐Tissue Augmentation During Implant Placement in the Aesthetic Zone: Clinical, Radiographic, Histological and Patient‐Reported Outcomes From a Randomised Controlled Trial Using Connective Tissue Graft and a Volume‐Stable Collagen Matrix

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Periodontology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate the clinical, radiographic, histological and patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs) of soft‐tissue augmentation (STA) during implant placement in the aesthetic zone using a connective tissue graft (CTG) or a volume‐stable collagen matrix (VCMX). Materials and Methods In this three‐arm randomised controlled trial, 25 patients

Ocular Manifestations of Infectious Salmon Anaemia Virus Infection in Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar)

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Eyes are essential sensory organs needed by teleost Atlantic salmon for high visual acuity and survival in both the wild and in aquaculture settings. In this work, we assessed the ocular manifestations of Infectious Salmon Anaemia Virus (ISAV) infection in Atlantic salmon by a cohabitation‐mediated infection assay and histological and ...

Differences in the Gastric Microbiotas of Neighboring Populations With Divergent Risks of Gastric Cancer

open access: yesJournal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Although Helicobacter pylori plays a central role in gastric cancer (GC), other microorganisms involved in gastric dysbiosis may also impact carcinogenesis. We aimed to characterize gastric dysbiosis and its role in the transition from non‐atrophic gastritis (NAG) to gastric premalignant lesions (GPLs) in two populations from Nariño,
