Treatment of persistent epithelial ingrowth after Lasik with mechanical debridement, use of 20% alcohol and fibrin glue

open access: yes, 2021
Lasik is the most often performed laser refractive surgery worldwide. Despite its efficacy and safety, some complications may occur. Epithelial ingrowth is a rare postoperative complication of Lasik, with an increased prevalence in cases of retreatment ...

Epithelial ingrowth following Bowman layer anterior stromal transplantation managed with Nd:YAG laser: A case report

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology. Case Reports
A 20-year-old female underwent Bowman layer anterior stromal transplantation (BLAST) for advanced keratoconus in her right eye. Postoperatively, she was prescribed topical prednisolone acetate in tapering doses over 3 months.

Natural Biomaterials for Osteochondral Repair: From Source to Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Biological origin‐guided overview of natural biomaterials and therapeutic strategies for osteochondral tissue engineering. The circular diagram categorizes representative materials and strategies into plant/algae‐derived, microbial‐derived, animal‐derived, and human‐derived sources, centered on an osteochondral defect repair model.

Bench‐to‐Bedside Translation of Self‐Healing Colloidal Hydrogels as Next Generation Design of Flowable Hemostatic Matrix: From Preclinical Evaluation to Human Clinical Trials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Self‐healing materials represent a paradigm shift in designing functional biomedical devices for drug delivery, tissue regeneration, and 3D bioprinting. However, their clinical translation remains limited by challenges such as insufficient mechanical strength, potential cytotoxicity from chemical modifications, and complex activation ...

Boosting Sensory Nerve‐to‐Bone Interactions Enhances Hedgehog Mediated Calvarial Bone Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Boosting sensory nerve activity via TrkA agonism strongly accelerates calvarial bone repair in adult mice. Furthermore, single‐cell RNA sequencing and neuron–bone interactome analyses identify these sensory neurons as a direct neural source of Hedgehog pathway ligands. Consequently, these ligands drive osteoblast differentiation of skeletal progenitors,

Beyond Potency: Emerging Determinants and Optimization Strategies Enhancing Therapeutic Efficacy of Adult Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Adult stem cell therapy requires more than high in vitro potency. This review proposes a systems framework in which cell‐intrinsic programs, instructive microenvironmental cues, and pre‐/post‐delivery engineering are co‐designed under standardized translational rules.

Failure of intracameral fluorouracil to resolve an epithelial ingrowth following clear corneal cataract surgery

open access: yes, 2007
We present a case of epithelial ingrowth that progressed despite repeated intracameral injections of fluorouracil (5-FU). Six months after cataract surgery, a retrocorneal membrane was found advancing from the corneal section.

Early stages of tooth development in the harbor porpoise Phocoena phocoena

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Here we describe the stages of tooth development in toothed whales on the basis of the harbor porpoise (Phocoena phocoena). The aim of the study was to find out whether these stages are identical to those of other mammals analyzed so far although toothed whales are homodont and monophyodont.
