Superior enhancement in thermal conductivity of epoxy/graphene nanocomposites through use of dimethylformamide (DMF) relative to acetone as solvent [PDF]
In this work, we demonstrate that use of dimethylformamide (DMF) as a solvent leads to better dispersion of graphene nanoplatelets in epoxy matrix compared to acetone solvent, in turn leading to higher thermal conductivity epoxy-graphene nanocomposites.

Study Of Internal Response Of Epoxy Due To Compressive Load Via Experiment And Simulation Using Abaqus FEA Software [PDF]
Epoxy is widely used primarily as a matrix material in the manufacture of polymer matrix composite. Epoxy behavior under compression load has to be understood before the mechanical behavior of polymer matrix composite can be accurately predicted.

Ultra-ductile and low friction epoxy matrix composites [PDF]
We present the results of an effective reinforcement of epoxy resin matrix with fullerene carbon soot. The optimal carbon soot addition of 1 wt. % results in a toughness improvement of almost 20 times. The optimized soot-epoxy composites also show an increase in tensile elongation of more than 13 %, thus indicating a change of the failure mechanism in ...

Nanostructured epoxies based on the self-assembly of block copolymers: a new miscible block that can be tailored to different epoxy formulations [PDF]
Nanostructured thermosets may be obtained by self-assembly of amphiphilic block copolymers in a reactive solvent and fixation of the morphologies by the cross-linking reaction. Nanostructuration requires the presence of a bock that remains miscible in the polymer during polymerization.

How Graphene Is Cut upon Oxidation? [PDF]
Our first principles calculations reveal that oxidative cut of graphene is realized by forming epoxy and then carbonyl pairs. Direct forming carbonyl pair to tear graphene up from an edge position is not favorable in energy. This atomic picture is valuable for developing effective graphene manipulation means.

Novel Structural Motifs in Oxidized Graphene [PDF]
The structural and electronic properties of oxidized graphene are investigated on the basis of the genetic algorithm and density functional theory calculations. We find two new low energy semiconducting phases of the fully oxidized graphene (C1O). In one phase, there is parallel epoxy pair chains running along the zigzag direction.
