A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Synthesis and characterization of rubbery epoxy/organoclay hectorite nanocomposites
The present research investigates the morphology, the mechanical, and the viscoelastic properties of rubbery epoxy/clay nanocomposites synthesized by in situ polymerisation of a prepolymer diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A crosslinked with an aliphatic ...

The influence of hydrostatic pressure on the interlaminar fracture toughness of carbon/epoxy composites [PDF]
The use of composites for deep sea applications requires a thorough understanding of the behaviour of these materials. While several studies have examined the influence of pressure on in-plane properties few data are available for the interlaminar ...

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERISATION OF ABRASIVE MATERIALS PRODUCED FROM SNAIL SHELLS AND SILICA
Surface finishing operation is a very vital aspect of the manufacturing process and would not fully be achieved without abrasives such as emery paper. Some materials used in the production of abrasives like alumina (Al2O3), and Boron Carbide (B4C) are ...
