Epoxy Resins

2017
This chapter discusses the chemistry, technology, and applications of epoxy resins, which are one of the most important classes of thermoset because of their outstanding mechanical properties and chemical resistance. The processing chemistry, based on condensation reactions, which do not evolve by-products, is very flexible, enabling cross-linked ...

Epoxy Resins in the Construction Industry

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2006
Abstract:  Epoxy resins are used as coatings, adhesives, and in wood and concrete repair. However, epoxy resins can be highly irritating to the skin and are strong sensitizers. Some hardeners are carcinogenic. Based on the results of earlier Dutch studies, an international project on “best practices,”—Epoxy Code—with epoxy products was started ...

Solubility of epoxy resins

Progress in Organic Coatings, 1987
Abstract The new approach developed over the past four years by Huyskens and Haulait-Pirson to the problem of solubility for crystalline compounds, as well as model high molecular weight polymers, has been applied to much more complicated systems such as the oligomers used in high solids preparations.

Epoxy Resin Embedment

Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1968
Since the introduction of epoxy resins as embedding material for electron microscopy, the list of new formulations and variations of widely accepted mixtures has grown rapidly. Described here is a resin system utilizing Maraglas 655, Dow D.E.R. 732, DDSA, and BDMA, which is a variation of the mixtures of Lockwood and Erlandson.

Outgassing of epoxy resins in vacumm

Vacuum, 1967
Abstract Weight loss of three plastic materials (two glass-fibre-filled 815-MPDA Epoxies and an unfilled 828-U Epoxy) during 100 hours exposure to vacumm (10 −6 to 10 −4 torr) at 24°C were measured with a recording electrobalance. Weight loss decreased with time, indicating that the outgassing products were absorbed or adsorbed gases.

Introduction to Epoxy Resins

2018
Since their conception, epoxy resins have been the subject of a multitude of patents and technical publications. Undoubtedly, there has been more written about these products per pound of sales than any of the other commercially available thermosetting resins. This immediately compels us to pose the question, why?

Epoxy Resins and Curatives

2015
Abstract This article provides a detailed discussion on the principal classes and curatives of epoxy resins used in the coatings industry. The principal classes are bisphenol A epoxy, bisphenol F epoxy, epoxy phenol novolac, cycloaliphatic epoxies, epoxy acrylate, brominated bisphenol-A-based epoxy, phosphorus-containing epoxy ...
