Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

A Mechanistic View of the Light-Induced Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Extracellular Polymeric Substances of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
In the current study, extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and photon energy biosynthetically converted Ag+ to silver nanoparticles (AgNPs).

Improvement Effect of the EPS Produced by Long Shelf-life Yogurt Culture on DSS-Induced Enteritis

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji, 2023
In order to study the relieving effect of extracellular polysaccharides (EPS-A,EPS-B) which were extracted and purified from long shelf-life yogurt fermented by long shelf-life yogurt culture A and culture B, their molecular characteristics, structural ...

Nanozymes at the Bio‐Nano Interface: From Synthesis, Defect Engineering, Catalytic Behavior in Biological Microenvironments, and Biosafety Implications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Nanozymes (NZs) have emerged as versatile artificial enzymes with tunable catalytic properties driven by atomic coordination, defect engineering, and surface chemistry. This review presents a bio–nano interface framework linking synthesis strategies, structural design, and catalytic behavior within complex biological microenvironments.

Experimental and analytical study about the compressive behavior of eps sandwich panels

open access: yesMateriales de Construccion, 2013
This study presents a detailed characterization of the behavior of EPS sandwich panels subject to normal load taking into account several variables. For that, two experimental programs were performed, leading to the proposal of an analytical formulation ...

Small volume expansions for elliptic equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper analyzes the influence of general, small volume, inclusions on the trace at the domain's boundary of the solution to elliptic equations of the form $\nabla \cdot D^\eps \nabla u^\eps=0$ or $(-\Delta + q^\eps) u^\eps=0$ with prescribed Neumann ...

Laurent series expansion of sunrise-type diagrams using configuration space techniques

open access: yes, 2004
We show that configuration space techniques can be used to efficiently calculate the complete Laurent series \eps-expansion of sunrise-type diagrams to any loop order in D-dimensional space-time for any external momentum and for arbitrary mass ...

Diversity of Pharmaceuticals Enhances Antibiotic Resistance in the Invertebrate Gut via Biofilm‐Mediated Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pharmaceutical diversity acts as an independent driver of antibiotic resistance in soil invertebrates. While bulk soil remains unaffected, the collembolan gut microbiome exhibits significant resistance gene enrichment under complex chemical exposure and diurnal warming.

The behaviour of Reinforced Concrete Beams by Using Expanded Polystyrene Beads and Palm Oil Fuel Ash as Replacement Materials [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials
The Reinforced Concrete (RC) beams containing Expanded Polystyrene Beads (EPS) and Palm Oil Fuel Ash (POFA) as sand and cement replacement with a percentage between 10% and 30% were studied in terms of load-deflection behaviour.
