EPSPs in rat neocortical neurons in vitro. I. Electrophysiological evidence for two distinct EPSPs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neurophysiology, 1989
1. To investigate excitatory postsynaptic potentials (EPSPs), intracellular recordings were performed in layer II/III neurons of the rat medial frontal cortex. The average resting membrane potential of the neurons was more than -75 mV and their average input resistance was greater than 20 M omega.

Identification of genetic elements associated with EPSPs gene amplification.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Weed populations can have high genetic plasticity and rapid responses to environmental selection pressures. For example, 100-fold amplification of the 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) gene evolved in the weed species Amaranthus palmeri

Overexpression of G10-EPSPS in soybean provides high glyphosate tolerance

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2019
Glyphosate is a highly efficient, broad-spectrum nonspecific herbicide that inhibits the 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS)-mediated pathway of shikimic acid.

EPSPs in rat neocortical neurons in vitro. II. Involvement of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors in the generation of EPSPs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neurophysiology, 1989
1. Intracellular recordings were obtained from neurons in layer II/III of rat frontal cortex. Single-electrode current- and voltage-clamp techniques were employed to compare the sensitivity of excitatory postsynaptic potentials (EPSPs) and iontophoretically evoked responses to N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) to the selective NMDA antagonist D-2-amino-5 ...

Dendritic coincidence detection of EPSPs and action potentials

open access: yesNature Neuroscience, 2001
We describe a mechanism for coincidence detection mediated by the interaction between backpropagating action potentials and EPSPs in neocortical pyramidal neurons. At distal dendritic locations, appropriately timed EPSPs or oscillations could increase the amplitude of backpropagating action potentials by three- to fourfold.

Monosynaptic EPSPs in primate lumbar motoneurons

open access: yesJournal of Neurophysiology, 1993
1. Homonymous and heteronymous monosynaptic composite excitatory postsynaptic potentials (EPSPs) were evaluated by intracellular recordings from 89 motoneurons innervating triceps surae (n = 59) and more distal (n = 30) muscles in 14 pentobarbital-anesthetized monkeys (Macaca nemestrina). 2. Homonymous EPSPs were found in all motoneurons tested.

An intragenic approach to confer glyphosate resistance in chile (Capsicum annuum) by introducing an in vitro mutagenized chile EPSPS gene encoding for a glyphosate resistant EPSPS protein.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Chile pepper (Capsicum annuum) is an important high valued crop worldwide, and when grown on a large scale has problems with weeds. One important herbicide used is glyphosate. Glyphosate inactivates the enzyme 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (

Generation of Maize 5-Enolpyruvylshikimate-3-Phosphate Synthase (EPSPS) Variants with Improved Glyphosate Tolerance

open access: yesInternational Journal of Plant Biology
Glyphosate (N-phosphonomethylglycine) is a broad-spectrum, foliar-applied herbicide that inhibits 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) in plants.

Pro-106-Ser mutation and EPSPS overexpression acting together simultaneously in glyphosate-resistant goosegrass (Eleusine indica) [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Glyphosate has been used for more than 15 years for weed management in citrus groves in the Gulf of Mexico, at up to 3–4 applications per year. Goosegrass (Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn.) control has sometimes failed.

Genetically engineered rice endogenous 5-enolpyruvoylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (epsps) transgene alters phenology and fitness of crop-wild hybrid offspring

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Genetically engineered (GE) rice endogenous epsps (5-enolpyruvoylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase) gene overexpressing EPSPS can increase glyphosate herbicide-resistance of cultivated rice.
