Adjustment of foreign EQ-5D-3L utilities can increase their transferability

open access: yesClinicoEconomics and Outcomes Research, 2015
Foreign utilities of the EQ-5D-3L (3-level version of the EuroQol-5 Dimension of health questionnaire) are not readily transferrable to economic evaluations conducted from a national perspective. It has been advised to avoid transferring mean utilities from one country to another without adjusting them; yet no such method exists. The present study aimed

Eq5Dmap: A Command for Mapping between EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-5L [PDF]

open access: yesThe Stata Journal: Promoting communications on statistics and Stata, 2018
In this article, we describe a new command, eq5dmap, for conditional prediction of the utility values of EQ-5D-5L (EQ-5D-3L) from observed or specified values of EQ-5D-3L (EQ-5D-5L) conditional on age and gender. Predictions can be made either from the five-item health descriptions or from the (exact or approximate) utility score.

Socio-demographic indicators of self-reported health based on EQ-5D-3L: A cross-country analysis of population surveys from 18 countries

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2023
BackgroundGeneric health-related quality of life instruments, such as the EQ-5D, are increasingly used by countries to monitor population health via general population health surveys.

GATA4‐Driven Transcription of HtrA1 Promotes Cellular Senescence in Ménière's Disease and Age‐Related Audio‐Vestibular Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the HDAC6/GATA4/HtrA1 axis as a critical driver of cellular senescence in the inner ear. GATA4 nuclear translocation, facilitated by HDAC6 downregulation, transcriptionally activates HtrA1, promoting hair cell senescence, SASP, and audio‐vestibular dysfunction in models of Ménière's disease and age‐related audio‐vestibular ...

TRMT6‐Mediated m1A Modification of CDK9 mRNA Is a Dual‐Pronged Pathogenic Driver for HBV‐Related Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TRMT6‐mediated m1A modification in CDK9 mRNA enhances its mRNA stability and translation efficiency, thereby increasing the protein levels of CDK9. Upregulated CDK9 promotes the progression of HCC by elevating the levels of oncogenic factors including p‐STAT3, MCL1, and BCL‐2. On the other hand, CDK9 phosphorylates TARDBP at Ser254 to activate HBV core

Assessing the external validity of algorithms to estimate EQ-5D-3L from the WOMAC [PDF]

open access: yesHealth and Quality of Life Outcomes, 2016
The use of mapping algorithms have been suggested as a solution to predict health utilities when no preference-based measure is included in the study. However, validity and predictive performance of these algorithms are highly variable and hence assessing the accuracy and validity of algorithms before use them in a new setting is of importance. The aim

Patient Experiences Regarding Feasibility of Implementing Real-World EQ-5D Collection at an Oncology Centre in Ontario, Canada

open access: yesCurrent Oncology
Cancer treatments impact health-related quality of life (HRQoL). EQ-5D is a standardized generic measure of HRQoL. The objective of this project was to assess, from the patient’s perspective, the feasibility of implementing real-world EQ-5D-3L ...

Health related quality of life among pregnant women living with HIV in Kenya, results from comparing a patient generated index and the Euroqol 5 dimension 3 level

open access: yesBMC Women's Health, 2022
Background Standardized tools are used to measure health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and they focus on selected physical, emotional, and social functioning. This approach may miss out on the heterogeneity of HRQoL among various sub-populations.

PRMT1‐Mediated LDHA Methylation Drives STAT3 Lactylation to Orchestrate Intestinal Inflammation and Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies an immunometabolic axis wherein SAM‐driven PRMT1 methylates LDHA, enhancing its activity. The resultant lactate induces STAT3 K709 lactylation, which stabilizes an active conformation to promote STAT3 phosphorylation and IL‐10 expression.

Mapping EORTC-QLQ-C30 to EQ-5D-3L in patients with colorectal cancer [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Economics, 2016
The primary aim of this study was to perform a mapping of the EORTC-QLQ-C30 scores to EQ-5D-3L for the SIRFLOX study; a large dataset of patients with previously untreated liver-only or liver-dominant metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). A secondary aim was to compare the predictive validity of existing mappings from EORTC-QLQ-C30 to EQ-5D-3L conducted
