External Quality Assessment (EQA) for Molecular Diagnostics of Zika Virus: Experiences from an International EQA Programme, 2016–2018 [PDF]

open access: yesViruses, 2018
Quality Control for Molecular Diagnostics (QCMD), an international provider for External Quality Assessment (EQA) programmes, has introduced a programme for molecular diagnostics of Zika virus (ZIKV) in 2016, which has been continuously offered to interested laboratories since that time.

Validation of the Primerdesign Quantitative Allele Specific Amplification Kit for the Detection of JAK2V617F Mutation

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 40, Issue 6, March 2026.
The PrimerDesign Quasa kit demonstrates efficacy as a reliable assay for the detection of JAK2V617F mutation, exhibiting potential for quantitative analysis when samples are analysed in duplicate. This assay validation information may prove valuable to laboratories seeking to implement a simplified JAK2V617F mutational test. ABSTRACT Introduction Janus

Quantitative Succinylacetone Measurement by Gas Chromatography‐Tandem Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS/MS) Facilitates Diagnosis, Monitoring, and Characterization of Tyrosinemia Type 1 and Other Hypersuccinylacetonemias

open access: yesJIMD Reports, Volume 67, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Tyrosinemia type 1 (HT1), due to deficient activity of fumarylacetoacetate hydrolase, causes accumulation of succinylacetone (SA). SA concentrations in urine and plasma of untreated HT1 patients are typically several thousand‐fold higher than normal, hence are readily recognized by traditional diagnostic methods in most cases.

Initial Estimates of Soil Mercury Emissions Induced by Soil Heating During Global Wildfires

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Wildfires, increasingly frequent extreme events driven by global change, have significantly accelerated the release of mercury (Hg) stored in soils. However, a systematic quantification of Hg emissions from topsoil heating during global wildfires has been lacking.

The spectrum of breast in situ papillary carcinomas with invasion and invasive breast carcinomas with papillary features: an overview of histological subtypes and diagnostic challenges

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 88, Issue 4, Page 747-768, March 2026.
Invasive breast carcinomas with papillary features (IBCP) comprise diverse subtypes with variable architecture, histopathology, and clinical behaviour. This review outlines evolving classification, diagnostic criteria, and treatment implications, highlighting challenges in distinguishing in situ from invasive lesions. Standardised diagnostic approaches

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 2, Page 464-479, February 2026.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

EQA in molecular diagnostics

open access: yesBiochemia medica, 2006
Uvod:Zbog razvoja molekularne dijagnostike, raste broj laboratorija koji koristi ovu metodologiju, što nameće potrebu za standardizacijom, a to znači i sudjelovanje u shemama vanjske procjene kvalitete. Cilj:Prikazati rezultate sudjelovanja u međunarodnim programima kontrole kvalitete, dobivene uporabom standardiziranih metoda u molekularnoj ...
