Mapping technique of climate fields between GCM's and ice models [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2010
Here, we present a mapping method OBLIMAP, which projects and interpolates fields like surface temperature, surface mass balance, and surface height between a geographical based coordinate system of a General Circulation Model (GCM) and a rectangular ...

Method for selecting ornamental species for different shading intensity in urban green spaces

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
In urban areas, ornamental plants face different constraints, such as the shading of buildings and trees. Therefore, the selection of suitable species and their integration or combination with pre-existing plants is very important.

Referral Patterns and Diagnostic Timeliness in Pediatric Cancer: A Hospital‐Based Study in Indonesia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Timely diagnosis and treatment are critical for improving survival among children with cancer. In low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs), delays are common and may be influenced by fragmented referral pathways and diagnostic limitations.

“We Cannot Talk as a Family”: Complexities of Survivorship Communication Among Hispanic/Latino Young Adult Survivors of Childhood Cancer, Parents, and Clinicians

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Young adult childhood cancer survivors (YA‐CCS) have an increased risk of treatment‐related health complications throughout their lives. Lifelong survivorship care is recommended, yet many YA‐CCS experience disruptions in care during pediatric‐to‐adult transitions and do not receive recommended survivorship care.

Identifying Patterns of Hospitalizations Among Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Population‐Based Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Childhood cancer survivors (CCSs) experience more hospitalizations than the general population. We aimed to identify distinct hospitalization patterns among Queensland CCSs and the associated characteristics. Methods Cases (aged ≤14 years) diagnosed between 1995 and 2019 while residents of Queensland were identified through the ...

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Development of a low-distortion authalic sphere for the oblique azimuthal equal-area map projection of the spheroid

open access: yesJournal of Spatial Information Science
This paper gives a new possible realization of the oblique Lambert Azimuthal Equal-Area map projection for the ellipsoid of revolution. Unlike the realization available in previous literature, the authalic sphere used for the derivation has very low ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
