Comparison of the Effect of Equal Channel Angular Pressing, Expansion Equal Channel Angular Pressing, and Hybrid Equal Channel Angular Pressing on Mechanical Properties of AZ31 Mg Alloy

Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2021
In this study, Hybrid Equal Channel Angular Pressing (Hybrid ECAP) method was obtained by applying Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) and Expansion Equal Channel Angular Pressing (Exp.-ECAP) methods successively. These three angular pressing methods were applied to AZ31 Mg alloy using the same process parameters.

Downscaling Equal Channel Angular Pressing

Solid State Phenomena, 2006
ECAP (equal channel angular pressing) is a well-known severe plastic deformation method used to produce ultra-fine grained materials. The dimensions of ECAP specimens are usually in the centimeter range. For producing high strength wires or fibres with diameter in the micrometer/millimeter range, downscaling of the ECAP process may be a viable option ...

Equal-Channel Angular Pressing of NiAl

Materials Science Forum, 2010
Equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) was applied to polycrystalline NiAl at temperatures around the brittle-to-ductile transition temperature (BDTT). NiAl rods encapsulated in a steel jacket were ECAP-processed in a die with a channel angle of 120°. The microstructure and texture were characterized by electron backscatter diffraction with a scanning ...

Equal-channel angular pressing using plate samples

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2003
Equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) was applied to plate samples of high-purity aluminum using processing route BCZ in which the plate is rotated by 90° in the same sense about the Z-axis between each pass. Samples were taken to a total of 4 passes, equivalent to an imposed strain of ~4, and then examined microscopically. In the as-pressed condition,

Equal channel angular pressing of copper wire

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2014
A new development of equal channel angular pressing method to fabricate wire-formed samples has been proposed and experimented. In this approach, wire-formed specimen, which is inserted inside a polyurethane rubber pad material, has been pressed using conventional equal channel angular pressing die.

Simulation of Equal-Channel Angular Extrusion Pressing

Materials Science Forum, 2006
Equal-channel angular (ECA) pressing is the main technique of the severe plastic deformation (SPD) method, applied for fabrication of bulk nanostructured metal materials. At the same time the practical realization of this technique is a rather challenging task.

Grain Fragmentation in Equal Channel Angular Pressed Copper

Materials Science Forum, 2010
A comparative experimental and simulation study of oxygen-free high conductivity copper produced by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) one-pass has been carried out by using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and a recently proposed grain refinement model. The grain size and misorientation distributions were extracted from the EBSD measurements.

Acoustic structuroscopy of copper samples after equal-channel angular pressing

Deformation and Fracture of Materials, 2023
The influence of the number of passes during equal-channel angular pressing on the acoustic and physical characteristics of copper M1 (ultrasonic wave propagation velocity, density, electrical conductivity, strength, hardness and structure) has been studied. For acoustic measurements the mirror-shadow method of multiple reflections was used.
