The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Quantum Words and Newtonian Sentences, Structure of Language and Algebra [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Interdisciplinary Sciences, 2019
Language and algebra take their structure from two laws in physics; and algebra is a subset of language. 1) Through its property of discreteness, words take their structure from the quantum property of matter, where phonemes are digits, words are ...

The new food equation: do EU policies add up? [PDF]

open access: yes
This policy brief, Juan Delgado and Indhira Santos look at how EU policies should be adjusted to the higher food prices. The brief makes three policy recommendations: innovation in biofuels should be encouraged but biofuels targets should be abandoned as

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

GRAPHO-ANALYTICAL STUDIES OF LINIAR EQUATION SYSTEMS

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Design and Engineering Graphics, 2016
The paper presents the solving of linear three variables system using two methods: analytic and graphic methods. The solving of a such system implies four cases: compatible system with unique solution, simple-indeterminate compatible system, double ...

Assessing A Hierarchy of Pre-Service Secondary Mathematics Teachers’ Algebraic Thinking

open access: yesAsian Journal of Assessment in Teaching and Learning, 2011
The purpose of this study was to assess a hierarchy of Malaysian pre-service secondary mathematics teachers’ algebraic thinking in using equation. The content domains incorporated in this framework were linear pattern (pictorial), direct variation ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Cheng Equation: A Revisit Through Symmetry Analysis

open access: yes, 2019
The symmetry analysis of the Cheng Equation is performed. The Cheng Equation is reduced to a first-order equation of either Abel's Equations, the analytic solution of which is given in terms of special functions.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
