Equation of state sensitivities when inferring neutron star and dense matter properties [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2018
Understanding the dense matter equation of state at extreme conditions is an important open problem. Astrophysical observations of neutron stars promise to solve this, with Neutron Star Interior Composition Explorer poised to make precision measurements ...

Unconventional mRNA processing and degradation pathways for the polycistronic yrzI (spyTA) mRNA in Bacillus subtilis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The S1025 peptide is the major antidote to the YrzI toxin, which we renamed here as SpyT (Small Peptide YrzI Toxin) and SpyA (Small Peptide YrzI Antitoxin) (1). Degradation of the toxin–antitoxin spyTA mRNA, either by a translation‐dependent cleavage by the endoribonuclease Rae1 (2) or by direct attack by 3′‐exoribonucleases (3), also contributes to ...

Rip Cosmology via Inhomogeneous Fluid

open access: yesGalaxies, 2013
The conditions for the appearance of the Little Rip, Pseudo Rip and Quasi Rip universes in the terms of the parameters in the equation of state of some dark fluid are investigated. Several examples of the Rip cosmologies are investigated.

Equation of State from Lattice QCD Calculations

open access: yes, 2011
We provide a status report on the calculation of the Equation of State (EoS) of QCD at finite temperature using lattice QCD. Most of the discussion will focus on comparison of recent results obtained by the HotQCD and Wuppertal-Budapest (W-B ...

The solution supramolecular structure of α2 → 8 polysialic acid suggests a structural cause for its low immunogenicity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
α2 → 8 polysialic acid elicits poor immunogenicity. Small‐angle scattering shows a supramolecular structure with parallel‐chain binding, although in different forms at μm and mm calcium. The major histocompatibility complex requires molecular weights around 2000 Da to produce antibodies, and 2000 Da polysialic oligomers will bind in these structures ...

Investigation of Thermodynamic Consistency Test of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in Room-Temperature Ionic liquids using Generic van der Waals Equation of State

open access: yesJournal of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, 2019
Thermodynamic consistency test of isothermal vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data of various binary systems containing Carbon dioxide (CO2)/Room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) have been investigated in wide ranges of pressures in each isotherm ...

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

On the Equation of State of Nuclear Matter in 158A GeV Pb+Pb Collisions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Within a hydrodynamical approach we investigate the sensitivity of single inclusive momentum spectra of hadrons in 158A GeV Pb+Pb collisions to three different equations of state of nuclear matter. Two of the equations of state are based on lattice QCD results and include a phase transition to a quark-gluon plasma.

Equation of state in (2+1)-flavor QCD with gradient flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The energy-momentum tensor and equation of state are studied in finite-temperature (2+1)-flavor QCD with improved Wilson quarks using the method proposed by Makino and Suzuki based on the gradient flow.
