Microstructure Modification of Additively Manufactured Mo–9Si–8B by Annealing and Its Effects on High‐Temperature Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Postbuild annealing systematically modifies the phase fractions and morphology of EB‐PBF processed Mo–9Si–8B. Quantitative microstructure–property correlations reveal how controlled phase evolution enhances high‐temperature compressive strength and creep resistance.

Nonequilibrium thermodynamics : transport and rate processes in physical, chemical and biological systems /

open access: yes, 2007
Natural phenomena consist of simultaneously occurring transport processes and chemical reactions. These processes may interact with each other and lead to instabilities, fluctuations, and evolutionary systems. The objective of this book is to explore the

A new three-particle-interaction model to predict the thermodynamic properties of different electrolytes

open access: yes, 2007
In this study, Guggenheim charging process, which involves the radial Boltzmann distribution, was introduced to develop a new predictive model with three parameters, ion-ion distance parameter, ion-solvent parameter, and solvation parameter.

Thermodynamics of Irreversible Processes: Fundamental Constraints, Representations, and Formulation of Boundary Conditions

open access: yesPhysics
Starting from the analysis of the lack of positivity of the Cattaneo heat equation, this work addresses the thermodynamic relevance of the positivity constraint in irreversible thermodynamics, that is at least as significant as the entropic constraints ...

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

The thermodynamics of optical étendue

open access: yes, 2008
The concept of ´etendue is applied to the propagation of luminescent radiation, and to the transformation of such radiation in absorbing and luminescent media.

QCD at finite temperature and density - Equation of State [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
As an important set of thermodynamic quantities, knowledge of the equation of state over a broad range of temperatures and chemical potentials in the QCD phase diagram is crucial for our understanding of strongly-interacting matter.

Thermodynamic field theory of chemically reacting fluids in an interface. II. The second law as constraint to the constitutive equations

open access: yesMathematical Modelling, 1982
[For part I see the article reviewed above (Zbl 0559.76104).] A surface entropy principle is established and applied to semipermeable membranes. This principle is valid for all thermodynamic processes on interfaces and we formulate and evaluate a new entropy inequality which is not violated by special values of the initial and boundary data.

Influence of TiC and TiN Ceramic Reinforcements on the Microstructure, Thermal Expansion Behavior, and Tensile Properties of Invar 36 Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines Invar composites reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) and titanium nitride (TiN) using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). It presents the influence of reinforcements on microstructure, tensile properties, and thermal expansion. Results show that TiC effectively strengthens Invar while maintaining low thermal expansion, whereas TiN ...
