On a Covering Problem for Equilateral Triangles [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2008
Let $T$ be a unit equilateral triangle, and $T_1,\dots,T_n$ be $n$ equilateral triangles that cover $T$ and satisfy the following two conditions: (i) $T_i$ has side length $t_i$ ($0 < t_i < 1$); (ii) $T_i$ is placed with each side parallel to a side of $T$.

A Correlative SICM‐OPM Platform for Surface and Volumetric Imaging in Live Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multifunctional correlative imaging platform integrating Scanning Ion Conductance Microscopy (SICM) with Oblique Plane Microscopy (OPM) enables simultaneous surface topography, mechanical mapping, and 3D volumetric fluorescence imaging in live cells.

Optical properties and single-electron states of the nanosystem that contains three quantum dots

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2020
The quantum molecule consisting of three quantum dots that forms a triangle with its centers is studied. The electron wave function in the nanosystem is written using the linear combination of orbital quantum wells.

A New Equilateral Triangle?

open access: yes, 2020
In any triangle, the perpendicular side bisectors meet the corresponding internal angle bisectors on the circumcircle. If we take those three points as the vertices of a new triangle and repeat the operation indefinitly, we end up in the limit with a par of equilateral triangles whose sides are parallel to the sides of the Morley triangle of the ...

Explaining the Origin of Negative Poisson's Ratio in Amorphous Networks With Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This review summarizes how machine learning (ML) breaks the “vicious cycle” in designing auxetic amorphous networks. By transitioning from traditional “black‐box” optimization to an interpretable “AI‐Physics” closed‐loop paradigm, ML is shown to not only discover highly optimized structures—such as all‐convex polygon networks—but also unveil hidden ...

Maximizing Neumann fundamental tones of triangles

open access: yes, 2009
We prove sharp isoperimetric inequalities for Neumann eigenvalues of the Laplacian on triangular domains. The first nonzero Neumann eigenvalue is shown to be maximal for the equilateral triangle among all triangles of given perimeter, and hence among ...

i‐Tac: Inverse Design of 3D‐Printed Tactile Elastomers with Tuneable Optical and Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Inspired by the multi‐tissue architecture of the human fingertip dermis (A), this work introduces a mixture design using three PolyJet materials (AC/TM/GM) to expand the achievable elastomer property space (B). An inverse design pipeline (i‐Tac) is developed to map target optical/mechanical requirements to optimal material compositions (C), enabling ...

Discrete SL2 Connections and Self-Adjoint Difference Operators on the Triangulated 2-manifold

open access: yes, 2013
Discretization Program of the famous Completely Integrable Systems and associated Linear Operators was developed in 1990s. In particular, specific properties of the second order difference operators on the triangulated manifolds and equilateral triangle ...

Optimizing 3D Bin Packing of Heterogeneous Objects Using Continuous Transformations in SE(3)

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents a method for solving the three‐dimensional bin packing problem for heterogeneous objects using continuous rigid‐body transformations in SE(3). A heuristic optimization framework combines signed‐distance functions, neural network approximations, point‐cloud bin modeling, and physics simulation to ensure feasibility and stability ...

On the properties of the concave antiprisms of second sort [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2013
The paper examines geometrical, static and dynamic properties of the polyhedral structures obtained by folding and creasing the two-rowed segment of equilateral triangular net.
