QUANTIFYING OPTIMAL POLICY IN AN ENDOGENOUS MODEL: A THEORETICAL ANALYSIS
The subject matter of research is the examination of the optimal public policy in an R&D-based endogenous growth model with monopolistic supply of intermediate goods.

Determinants of Cost Inefficiency of Critical Access Hospitals: A Two-stage, Semi-parametric Approach [PDF]
This study examines, post-conversion, cost inefficiency of Critical Access Hospitals (CAH) using a two-stage approach. While the results suggest that Medicare cost-based reimbursement and longer participation in the CAH program may increase the cost ...

Water harvesting, radiative cooling, and interfacial solar evaporation are fundamentally governed by coupled heat, mass, and light transport processes. These processes are mediated by pore architecture, including pore size, connectivity, and hierarchical organization.

The Inefficiency of the Stock Market Equilibrium under Moral Hazard [PDF]
In this paper we study the constrained efficiency of a stock market equilibrium under moral hazard. We extend a standard general equilbrium framework (Magill and Quinzii (1999) and (2002)) to allow for a more general initial ownership distribution. We show that the market allocation is constrained efficient only if in each firm the entrepreneur who ...

Measuring and explaining farm inefficiency in a panel data set of mixed farms [PDF]
This paper aims to estimate a translog stochastic frontier production function in the analysis of a panel of 150 mixed Catalan farms in the period 1989-1993, in order to attempt to measure and explain variation in technical inefficiency scores with a one-

Dual‐State Programmable Oxide Transistor for Time‐Based Cryptography
A DUPOT enables independently tunable Vth and Isat depending on gate bias polarity, producing three‐dimensional dynamical behavior within a transfer characteristic. This behavior originates from charge trapping and oxygen‐ion migration in the HfO2 layer.

On Equilibrium in Monopolistic Competition [PDF]
The price, output, and quality of a monopolistic competitor are determined by maximizing the difference between its revenue and its cost, where cost is measured exclusive of the rent on its product-specialized inputs.

Formal Inefficiency of Equilibrium: A Non-Equilibrium Theory of Balance and Happiness
We present a formal non-equilibrium theory demonstrating that equilibrium, while statically simple, is dynamically inefficient. By defining a general state variable as a relational difference A(τ ) = B(τ ) − C(τ ), we show that convergence toward equilibrium requires asymmetric rate adjustments that are structurally costly.

Quantifying Inefficiency in Incomplete Asset Markets [PDF]
It is known that the incompleteness of asset markets causes inefficiency in almost every equilibrium. Yet unexplored is the "size" of this inefficiency.
