ON RELATIVISTIC MODELS IN THE EQUILIBRIUM STATISTICAL MECHANICS [PDF]
Relativistic effects in the thermodynamical properties of interacting particle systems are investigated within the framework of the relativistic direct interaction theory in various forms of dynamics. In the front form of relativistic dynamics an exactly solvable model of a one-dimensional hard spheres gas is formulated and an equation of state and ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

A Cost-Optimized Resource Provisioning Policy for Heterogeneous Cloud Environments
To avoid the drawbacks of a pricing mechanism in heterogeneous cloud environments that considers only single resources, we propose a multi-resource combinatorial pricing mechanism in this paper.

Extreme multistability has frequently been reported in autonomous circuits involving memory-circuit elements, since these circuits possess line/plane equilibrium sets. However, this special phenomenon has rarely been discovered in non-autonomous circuits.

Mechanical Equilibrium of Biological Membranes
The nature of mechanical and electrical forces on biological membranes in relation to mechanical equilibrium is examined. The presence of a double layer of electric charge is shown to give rise to an effective pressure drop across a curved membrane of finite thickness.

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
