Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

In this paper, we prove the finite convergence of sequences generated by (inexact and exact) proximal point methods for solving pseudomonotone equilibrium problems on Hadamard manifolds under the linear conditioning of the solution set.

A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Optimality Conditions for ε-Vector Equilibrium Problems
By virtue of the separation theorem of convex sets, a necessary condition and a sufficient condition for ε-vector equilibrium problem with constraints are obtained. Then, by using the Gerstewitz nonconvex separation functional, a necessary and sufficient

GAP FUNCTIONS FOR NONSMOOTH EQUILIBRIUM PROBLEMS [PDF]
We consider equilibrium problems (EP) with directionally differentiable (not necessarily ${\mathcal C}^1$) bifunctions which are convex with respect to the second variable and we use a gap function approach to solve them. In the first part of the paper we establish a condition under which any stationary point of the gap function solves (EP) and we ...

A Topology Optimization Framework for the Inverse Design of Nonlinear Mechanical Metamaterials
This work uses topology optimization to design unit cells for mechanical metamaterials with a prescribed nonlinear stress–strain response. The framework adds contact and postbuckling modeling to synthesize microstructures for three highly nonlinear responses, including pseudoductile behavior, monostable with snap‐through buckling, and bistable ...
