A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

Optimal strategy selection method for moving target defense based on signaling game

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2019
To solve the problem of the optimal strategy selection for moving target defense, the defense strategy was defined formally, the defense principle from the perspective of attack surface shifting and exploration surface enlarging was taken into account. Then,

A linkage disequilibrium-based approach to selecting disease-associated rare variants.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Rare variants have increasingly been cited as major contributors in the disease etiology of several complex disorders. Recently, several approaches have been proposed for analyzing the association of rare variants with disease.

Government Policy and Probabilistic Equilibrium Selection [PDF]

open access: yes
We study an economy where search frictions create a coordination problem among agents - each agent wants to produce if and only if enough other agents are producing. This environment easily generates multiple Pareto-ranked equilibria.

Developmental Equilibrium Selection

open access: yes
This paper studies whether using Payoff dominance is more or less natural than Risk dominance through a sample of more than a thousand of preadolescents and teenagers (n = 1, 254 , av. age = 12.8, 48%female). Participants in two coordination games (within-subjects) were asked to select astrategy but also to state a reason explaining their choice.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Expectations Traps and Coordination Failures: Selecting among Multiple Discretionary Equilibria [PDF]

open access: yes
Discretionary policymakers cannot manage private-sector expectations and cannot coordinate the actions of future policymakers. As a consequence, expectations traps and coordination failures can occur and multiple equilibria can arise.

A probabilistic view on the deterministic mutation-selection equation: dynamics, equilibria, and ancestry via individual lines of descent

open access: yes, 2018
We reconsider the deterministic haploid mutation-selection equation with two types. This is an ordinary differential equation that describes the type distribution (forward in time) in a population of infinite size.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Bistable Mechanisms 3D Printing for Mechanically Programmable Vibration Control

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a 3D‐printed bistable mechanism integrated into tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for mechanically adaptive passive vibration suppression. Through optimized geometry, the bistable design provides adaptable vibration reduction across a broad range of scenarios, achieving effective vibration mitigation without complex controls or external ...
