Failure time distributions for complex equipment

open access: yesQuality and Reliability Engineering International, 2018
AbstractThe exponential distribution is inadequate as a failure time model for most components; however, under certain conditions (in particular, that component failure rates are small and mutually independent, and failed components are immediately replaced or perfectly repaired), it is applicable to complex repairable systems with large numbers of ...

DeepPR: Progressive Recovery for Interdependent VNFs with Deep Reinforcement Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The increasing reliance upon cloud services entails more flexible networks that are realized by virtualized network equipment and functions. When such advanced network systems face a massive failure by natural disasters or attacks, the recovery of the ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Research on optimization of maintenance strategy for power grid equipment considering the function-economic correlation

open access: yesDiance yu yibiao
Aiming at the problem that the correlation between the equipment to be repaired is not considered when the current maintenance strategy of power grid equipment is formulated, this paper proposes a maintenance strategy of power grid equipment that ...

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Protecting the flight test programme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Considerable effort is put into the safety risk assessment of any flight test programme - and rightly so, since failures to apply best practice in this area may cause significant expense, and in extremis loss of life.

Nickel-cadmium cell life test [PDF]

open access: yes
Over 6,9000 Low Earth Orbit cycles were accumulated at 30% Depth of Discharge on twelve INTELSAT-design nickel-hydrogen cells. Physical equipment and cells are described. Performance characteristics are seen to be uniform.

Faktor kejayaan dan kegagalan projek ICT di luar bandar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The success and failure of ICT projects depends on how the relevant agency set the strategy to attract the local community to use the facility. The purpose of this paper is to identify factors that contributing to the success and failure of such project.

Nanoindentation Criteria for Combinatorial Thin Film Libraries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thin‐film material libraries are compositional spreads used for screening composition‐structure‐property relationships. Nanoindentation is often used to characterize mechanical behavior across these systems, however variations in methodology are widespread.
