Styrylpyrone biosynthesis in Equisetum arvense
Phytochemistry, 1997Abstract Styrylpyrone synthase was detected in cell free extracts from gametophytes of Equisetum arvense . This new enzyme catalyses the formation of styrylpyrones from malonyl-CoA and hydroxycinnamoyl-CoA precursors. A standard enzyme assay was established. The enzyme activity was characterized in partially purified protein extracts.

Sterols from Equisetum arvense.
Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale, 1985The sterol fraction of Equisetum arvense L. contains, essentially, the following sterols: beta-sitosterol (60.0%), campesterol (32.9%), isofucosterol (5.9%) and cholesterol (trace amounts). The identification of the compounds has been carried out through NMR and MS, while the corresponding percentage have been desumed from the GLC and HPLC data.

2019The 13LO activity was found in the above-ground generative shoot organs (strobilus, interstice, leaves) and in rhizome, 9LO ??? in rhizome and strobilus. On the contrary, in vegetative shoots 13LO was found in the above-ground parts of plant and 9LO in the underground part rhizome only. This difference is typical for embryophyt plants.
