Adult Equivalence Scales, Inequality and Poverty in New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines the sensitivity of inequality and poverty measures to the choice of adult equivalence scales and the type of income unit examined.

Characterization of Revenue Equivalence [PDF]

open access: yes
The property of an allocation rule to be implementable in dominant strategies by a unique payment scheme is called revenue equivalence. In this paper we give a characterization of revenue equivalence based on a graph theoretic interpretation of the ...

Chiral separation of chloroalkanes with the chromatographic column onboard Martian rovers

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Computer image of the Rosalind Franklin Rover of ESA's ExoMars mission. ExoMars is scheduled to land on planet Mars in Oxia Planum in 2029. This area represents an interesting spot to look for biosignatures. Investigations of ExoMars include measurement on molecular chirality. We show that chiral chloroalkanes, that have been identified on Mars, can be

Estimating Equivalence Scales for Tax and Benefits Systems [PDF]

open access: yes
When comparing, say, the welfare derived from income by a family that is comprised of two adults and three children to that of a single adult, it is necessary to take into consideration the relative needs of the respective households.

An algorithm for weak synthesis observation equivalence for compositional supervisor synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper proposes an algorithm to simplify automata in such a way that compositional synthesis results are preserved in every possible context. It relaxes some requirements of synthesis observation equivalence from previous work, so that better ...

A context‐dependent modulatory role for eIF6 in acquired resistance to vemurafenib in melanoma

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Acquired resistance to vemurafenib upregulates the translation factor eIF6 in melanoma cells. Silencing eIF6 in resistant cells reduces proliferation and partially restores drug sensitivity, whereas its overexpression increases sensitivity across melanoma lines regardless of BRAF status, via modulation of mTOR, S6K, and MAPK signaling.

Impacts of state-dependent impulses on the stability of switching Cohen-Grossberg neural networks

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2017
This paper investigates the impacts of state-dependent impulses on the stability of switching Cohen-Grossberg neural networks (CGNN) by means of B-equivalence method.

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

An Alternative Admissibility Theorem for Singular Fractional Order Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This work is concerned with the issue of admissibility for singular fractional order systems (FOS) with the fractional order 1 ≤ α <; 2.

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?
