This paper presents a weakness in the key schedule of the AES candidate HPC (Hasty Pudding Cipher). It is shown that for the HPC version with a 128-bit key, 1 in 256 keys is weak in the sense that it has 230 equivalent keys. An efficient algorithm is proposed to construct these weak keys and the corresponding equivalent keys.

Cryptanalysis and Improvement of the Image Encryption Scheme Based on 2D Logistic-Adjusted-Sine Map
In recent years, many scholars have been committed to improving the security and practicability of chaotic image encryption. In addition, their proposed schemes mainly focus on two aspects, new or improved chaotic systems and new or improved encryption ...

On the equivalent keys in multivariate cryptosystems
The number of equivalent keys in multivariate cryptosystem is closely related to the scheme security. This study analyzes the structure of the private key space in some multivariate schemes. The result gives the lower bounds on the number of equivalent keys of some variants of the hidden field equation (HFE) scheme including plus, minus-plus, embedding,

Equivalent public keys and a key substitution attack on the schemes from vector decomposition [PDF]
ABSTRACTThe vector decomposition problem has been considered as a hard problem, which is applicable to cryptography. Okamoto and Takashima proposed various types of public key cryptographic schemes based on the VDP. In this paper, we study the cryptographic implications of Okamoto‐Takashima schemes with respect to the properties of public keys.

Analysis of LEMs slider mechanisms based on equivalent coupling stiffness
The flexure hinge is the key part to implement the movement of lamina emergent mechanisms(LEMs). Designing a flexure hinge with good flexibility and high accuracy is always the key problem to research compliant mechanisms.

On the equivalence of McEliece's and Niederreiter's public-key cryptosystems
Summary: It is shown that McEliece's and Niederreiter's public-key cryptosystems are equivalent when set up for corresponding choices of parameters. A security analysis for the two systems, based on this equivalence observation, is presented.

Equivalence of Uniform Key Agreement and Composition Insecurity [PDF]
We prove that achieving adaptive security from composing two general non-adaptively secure pseudo-random functions is impossible if and only if a uniform-transcript key agreement protocol exists. It is well known that proving the security of a key agreement protocol (even in a special case where the protocol transcript looks random to an outside ...

Security Analysis of Reusing Vinegar Values in UOV Signature Scheme
Multivariate quadratic equation-based cryptographic algorithms are one of the promising post-quantum alternatives to current public-key cryptographic algorithms based on the discrete logarithm problem and the integer factorization problem. In this paper,

Exploring novel bands and key index for evaluating leaf equivalent water thickness in wheat using hyperspectra influenced by nitrogen. [PDF]
Leaf equivalent water thickness (LEWT) is an important indicator of crop water status. Effectively monitoring the water status of wheat under different nitrogen treatments is important for effective water management in precision agriculture.
