AscF in the mycobacterial CIII–CIV supercomplex lacks metal and nucleotide binding but links malate oxidation to respiration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The mycobacterial CIII‐CIV respiratory supercomplex is an obligate assembly, encompassing several subunits of unknown functions. We have characterized the intracellular subunit AscF, and show that it is unlikely to be a sensor for metals or nucleotides, but is required for growth on nonfermentable energy sources, and likely works as an adapter for ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

An enhanced analytical and numerical thermal model of frictional clutch system using functionally graded materials

open access: yesCurved and Layered Structures
When a component was built from a functionally graded material (FGM), the temperature of contact was determined using an analytical model (FGM). The analytical solution is applied using the concept of equivalent properties.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

On the Calculus of the Natural Frequencies of Functionally Graded Plates by Using the Concepts of Multilayer and Equivalent Material

open access: yesInternational conference KNOWLEDGE-BASED ORGANIZATION
Abstract Functionally graded materials represent a relatively new class of materials, which can be attributed to the broad category of composite materials. The specificity of functionally graded materials consists in the fact that in one of the directions (usually the smallest in a given body) the elastic, physical, mechanical ...

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Flutter analysis for wing structure using finite element modeling with equivalent stiffness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The aim of this study is to find a rapid and accurate method for wing flutter prediction in the early stage of aircraft design. A method using the concept of equivalent stiffness is presented for the modal and flutter analysis of a wing.

Analysis of the equivalent indenter concept used to extract Young’s modulus from a nano-indentation test: some new insights into the Oliver–Pharr method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper a thorough analysis of the equivalent indenter concept applied to nano-indentation is carried out, motivated by the fact that previous works in the field have not considered the requirement of a consistent relation between contact depth and

Materiality Concept(s) in the EU Sustainability(Non-Financial) Reporting: The Challenge of Equivalence

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal
This paper presents different materiality concepts in sustainability reporting. At present, two main streams of materiality concepts in sustainability reporting are single and double materiality. While single materiality primarily deals with the financial impact of sustainability issues on enterprise value (outside-in perspective), double materiality ...
