Overexpression of CD44 accompanies acquired tamoxifen resistance in MCF7 cells and augments their sensitivity to the stromal factors, heregulin and hyaluronan

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2012
Background Acquired resistance to endocrine therapy in breast cancer is a significant problem with relapse being associated with local and/or regional recurrence and frequent distant metastases.

New Treatment Strategy and Future Research Direction for BRAF‐Mutated Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Treatment with BRAF inhibitor plus MEK inhibitor is currently used in BRAF‐mutated various malignancies except colorectal cancer, and treatments with BRAF and/or MEK inhibitors and anti‐EGFR antibody are used in BRAF‐mutated colorectal cancer. Despite recent advances in BRAF‐targeted therapies, their efficacy is still limited.

ErbB receptors: directing key signaling networks throughout life.

open access: yes, 2004
The epidermal growth factor (EGF)-related peptides bind the ErbB receptors, inducing the formation of different homo- and heterodimers. Receptor dimerization promotes activation of the intrinsic kinase, leading to phosphorylation of specific tyrosines ...

Phase II Study of Cisplatin/Gemcitabine Plus Necitumumab for Squamous NSCLC After ICI‐Platinum Therapy (WJOG14120L)

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
WJOG14120L NESSIE evaluated cisplatin, gemcitabine, and necitumumab (CGN) as second‐line therapy after ICI‐based treatment in 46 patients with advanced squamous NSCLC. ORR was 26.1%, DCR 87.0%, and median PFS 4.4 months. Although the predefined ORR threshold was not met, CGN showed modest antitumor activity with manageable toxicity.

EGFR/ERBB receptors differentially modulate sebaceous lipogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The roles of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in sebaceous glands remain poorly explored. We show that human sebocytes express EGFR and lower levels of ERBB2 and ERBB3, all receptors being downregulated after the induction of lipid synthesis ...

Periodontitis and metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease with systemic effects that extend beyond the oral cavity and contribute to systemic immune and metabolic dysregulation. Chronic liver diseases, particularly metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and its progressive phenotypes, have emerged as major global ...

GENERATION OF pFastBacl-HT AND ISOLATION OF ErbB-2, ErbB-3 AND ErbB-4 cDNAs by RT-PCR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Over-expression of the ErbB receptor tyrosine kinase subfamily has been implicated in various types of human cancers. In the current study, ErbB-2, ErbB-3, and ErbB-4 tyrosine kinase domain cDNAs were isolated by RT-PCR and subcloned into a pFastBac-HT ...

The ectodomain of cadherin-11 binds to erbB2 and stimulates Akt phosphorylation to promote cranial neural crest cell migration.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
During development, a multi-potent group of cells known as the cranial neural crest (CNC) migrate to form craniofacial structures. Proper migration of these cells requires proteolysis of cell adhesion molecules, such as cadherins.

Maternal obesity during lactation as a hypertensive cardiovascular risk factor in the offspring

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Maternal obesity is a major public health concern, with growing evidence supporting its role in the developmental programming of cardiometabolic disease. Although prenatal mechanisms have been investigated extensively, the contribution of lactation as a postnatal window of cardiovascular (CV) programming remains insufficiently understood ...
