Erbium-doped Fiber Amplifier

Proceedings of Japan International Electronic Manufacturing Technology Symposium, 2005
Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers(EDFAs) are remarkable technology as direct optical amplification devices. It has been recently demonstrated that the EDFA can be practically applicable to optical trunk transmission systems and optical distribution systems.

The comparison of for different erbium doped fibers and erbium doped fiber amplifier configurations

2017 4th International Conference on Electrical and Electronic Engineering (ICEEE), 2017
In this study, single-pass (SP), double-pass (DP), and double pass with passive erbium doped fiber (EDF) configurations are designed as erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). All configurations have been experimentally investigated for four different EDF.

Erbium Doped Holey Fiber Devices

Optical Amplifiers and Their Applications/Integrated Photonics Research, 2004
We fabricated an erbium-doped holey fiber, and demonstrate an all-fiber laser with ultra-low threshold (~0.5mW) and amplifier providing 47 dB of internal gain. Incorporating this amplifier within a ring-laser we demonstrate a tuning range over100nm.

Saturable Absorption in Erbium-doped Fiber and Optical Bistability in Erbium-doped Fiber Ring Laser

2021 Photonics North (PN), 2021
Saturable absorption in erbium-doped fiber is presented through absorption measurements using a tunable laser and variable power. Its consequent optical bistability is also observed in erbium-doped fiber ring laser with long lengths of the fiber. Higher absorption at shorter wavelengths enables a wider bistable range.

Multicore erbium doped fiber amplifiers

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
ABSTRACT We review recent progress of multi -core erbium -doped fiber amplifiers (MC -EDFA). We confirmed by demonstrating a core -pumped MC -EDFA that MC -EDFs have practical amplification characteristic s and core -to-core crosstalk . Three types of cladding -pumped MC -EDFAs are also reviewed , one uses free space optics, other uses a fiber b undled

Erbium-doped tunable fiber laser

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
The Erbium doped fiber laser (EDFL) has demonstrated to be the ideal source for optical communications due to its operating wavelength at 1550 nm. Such wavelength matches with the low-loss region of silica optical fiber. This fact has caused that the EDFL has become very important in the telecomm industry.

Multifunctional Erbium Doped-Fiber Laser

Latin America Optics and Photonics Conference, 2010
This work present a multifunctional Erbium doped fiber laser by the use of two arrayed waveguide gratings intracavity. The experimental setup allows simultaneous operation of three regimes: passive mode-locking, continuous wave and active mode ...

Dynamics of an erbium-doped fiber laser

Physical Review A, 1994
The temporal dynamics of an erbium-doped fiber laser shows various interesting modes of behavior. In the stationary regime, a behavior going from a cw working mode to deterministic chaos through different self-pulsed working modes has been observed.

Erbium-doped phosphate fiber amplifiers

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
In this paper, the development of phosphate glass fiber amplifier with a high gain per unit length is reviewed. The performance of compact multimode pumped erbium-doped phosphate fiber amplifiers is presented. A fiber amplifier with a small signal net gain of 41dB at 1535nm and 21dB over the full C-band was demonstrated using a newly developed 8-cm ...

Multicore erbium-doped fiber amplifier

2012 17th Opto-Electronics and Communications Conference, 2012
A multicore erbium-doped fiber (MC-EDF) amplifier for simultaneous amplification in the 7-cores has been developed, and the gain and noise properties of individual cores are studied. For a pump power of 146 mW, the average gain achieved in the MC-EDF fiber was 30 dB, and noise figure was less than 4 dB. The net useful gain from the multicore-amplifler,
