Multistability manipulation by reinforcement learning algorithm inside mode‐locked fiber laser

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 13, Issue 16, Page 2891-2901, July 2024.
Abstract Fiber mode‐locked lasers are nonlinear optical systems that provide ultrashort pulses at high repetition rates. However, adjusting the cavity parameters is often a challenging task due to the intrinsic multistability of a laser system. Depending on the adjustment of the cavity parameters, the optical output may vary significantly, including Q ...

Dielectric‐Metasurface‐Enhanced Kerr Self‐Modulation for Passively Q‐Switching

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 18, Issue 4, April 2024.
By exploiting the enhanced Kerr effect from a periodic array of silicon nanodisks, the Mie resonance of the unit cells enhances is redshifted, achieving a novel transmission modulation for pulsed laser generation. And a stable Q‐switched pulse laser output with a duration of 1.4 µs and a repetition rate of 60 kHz is achieved.

Half-linear cavity multiwavelength Brillouin-erbium fiber laser [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2014
Multiwavelength half-linear cavity Brillouin erbium fiber laser (BEFL) has been demonstrated. The half-linear cavity BEFL is formed by utilizing only two circulators: one circulator acts as input and output ports and the other circulator is used to form ...

Ultrafast optical properties and applications of anisotropic 2D materials

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 13, Issue 2, Page 107-154, January 2024.
Abstract Two‐dimensional (2D) layered materials exhibit strong light‐matter interactions, remarkable excitonic effects, and ultrafast optical response, making them promising for high‐speed on‐chip nanophotonics. Recently, significant attention has been directed towards anisotropic 2D materials (A2DMs) with low in‐plane crystal symmetry. These materials
