Multistability manipulation by reinforcement learning algorithm inside mode‐locked fiber laser

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 13, Issue 16, Page 2891-2901, July 2024.
Abstract Fiber mode‐locked lasers are nonlinear optical systems that provide ultrashort pulses at high repetition rates. However, adjusting the cavity parameters is often a challenging task due to the intrinsic multistability of a laser system. Depending on the adjustment of the cavity parameters, the optical output may vary significantly, including Q ...

Efficient and Compact Optical Amplifier Using EYDF

open access: yesInternational Islamic University Malaysia Engineering Journal, 2010
An efficient Erbium/Ytterbium doped fiber amplifier (EYDFA) is demonstrated using a 1058nm pumping wavelength, where the amplification is assisted by energy transfer between Yb and Er ions.

Half-linear cavity multiwavelength Brillouin-erbium fiber laser [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2014
Multiwavelength half-linear cavity Brillouin erbium fiber laser (BEFL) has been demonstrated. The half-linear cavity BEFL is formed by utilizing only two circulators: one circulator acts as input and output ports and the other circulator is used to form ...

Dielectric‐Metasurface‐Enhanced Kerr Self‐Modulation for Passively Q‐Switching

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 18, Issue 4, April 2024.
By exploiting the enhanced Kerr effect from a periodic array of silicon nanodisks, the Mie resonance of the unit cells enhances is redshifted, achieving a novel transmission modulation for pulsed laser generation. And a stable Q‐switched pulse laser output with a duration of 1.4 µs and a repetition rate of 60 kHz is achieved.

Absolute calibration of fiber-coupled single-photon detector

open access: yes, 2014
We show a setup for characterising the efficiency of a single-photon-detector absolutely and with a precision better of 1%. Since the setup does not rely on calibrated devices and can be implemented with standard-optic components, it can be realised in ...

Influence of saturable absorbers on fiber ring laser sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this work, a fiber ring laser sensor has been employed to analyze the influence of passive Er-doped fiber acting as saturable absorber. Lasing modes of fiber ring lasers can be reduced by properly locating a saturable absorber that narrows the ...

Feedback-Injected Erbium Fiber Laser With Selectable Tunability and Constant Single-Longitudinal-Mode Characteristic

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In this investigation, a wavelength-selected single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) erbium-doped fiber (EDF) ring laser utilizing C-band EDF based gain medium over a tuning bandwidth of 1524.0 to 1573.0 nm is demonstrated experimentally.

Passively mode-locked fiber laser by utilizing TTG film on a D-shaped fiber as a saturable absorber [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we propose a mode-locked fiber laser by utilizing single layer Trivial Transfer Graphene film (TTGF) as a saturable absorber (SA). The SA was deposited on the top of a side-polished D-shaped fiber.

Dual-wavelength domain wall solitons in a fiber ring laser

open access: yes, 2010
We report on the experimental observation of a new type of dark soliton in a fiber laser made of all normal group velocity dispersion fibers. It was shown that the soliton is formed due to the cross coupling between two different wavelength laser beams ...
