MXene Ti3C2Tx as a passive Q-switcher for erbium-doped fiber laser

Optical fiber technology (Print), 2020
A layered metal carbide/nitride known as MXene owns superior optical properties such as high optical damage tolerance, fast-optical switching capability, and excellent nonlinear transmittance property, making it a favourable SA device for a fiber laser ...

Suppression of self-pulsing in an erbium-doped fiber laser

Optics Letters, 1997
We propose a scheme whereby the self-pulsation that commonly occurs in an erbium-doped fiber laser can be suppressed. The scheme consists of the addition of a low-power laser as an auxiliary pump. The required auxiliary pump power is only a few percent of the output lasing power.

Magnesium oxide (MgO) thin film as saturable absorber for passively mode locked erbium-doped fiber laser

Optics and Laser Technology, 2019
A passively mode locked erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) operating at center wavelength of 1569.1 nm is demonstrated based on magnesium oxide (MgO) thin film as a saturable absorber (SA) for the first time.

CVD-grown MoSe2 with high modulation depth for ultrafast mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser

Nanotechnology, 2018
Two-dimensional materials have been widely used as optical modulator materials in mode-locked fiber lasers. In terms of the performance of the fiber laser, one with an ultrashort pulse and high stability has great commercial value.

Erbium-doped fiber lasers as deep-sea hydrophones

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2006
The present work deals with the development of a prototype of hydrophone for deep see acoustic detection. The base sensitive element is a single mode erbium-doped fiber laser. The high sensitivity make these sensors very suitable for a wide range of deep see acoustic applications, including the geological survey, the marine mammals survey and overall ...

Switchable Multi-Wavelength Erbium-Doped Fiber Laser With Adjustable Wavelength Interval

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2019
A switchable multi-wavelength erbium-doped fiber laser based on parallel dual Lyot filters is experimentally demonstrated in this paper. A new type of parallel-structure fiber filter is designed and its spectrum is simulated. The structure is simple. The

Characteristics of the intracavity dispersion in an erbium-doped fiber laser

Optics Letters, 1999
We have found theoretically that the intracavity dispersion of a laser is independent of the pumping power and wavelength and that the resonant group-velocity dispersion vanishes. We have experimentally observed that the intracavity dispersion of an erbium-doped fiber laser was independent of the pumping power and wavelength within the measuring error,

Tunable and switchable C-band and L-band multi-wavelength erbium-doped fiber laser employing a large-core fiber filter

Optics and Laser Technology, 2019
In this paper, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a C- and L-band erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) with tunable single-, dual- and triple-wavelength lasing emissions. A tapered structure large-core fiber filter (LCFF) is inserted to serve as tuning

Dual-wavelength erbium-doped fluoride fiber laser

Lasers in Medical Science, 2019
The laser source with 3 μm/2 μm output wavelength has many application prospects in clinical medicine, photoelectric countermeasure, and scientific research measurement. An Er3+ doped ZBLAN fiber laser with output wavelength of 2 .8 μm and 1 .6 μm is experimentally studied.

Passively Q-switched and mode-locked Erbium-doped fiber laser with topological insulator Bismuth Selenide (Bi2Se3) as saturable absorber at C-band region

Optical fiber technology (Print), 2019
We experimentally demonstrate Q-switched and mode-locked Erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) by using topological insulator (TI) Bismuth Selenide (Bi2Se3) as saturable absorber (SA). The fabricated Bi2Se3 SA exhibits modulation depth and saturation intensity
