Vector self-pulsing in erbium-doped fiber lasers
Optics Letters, 2016Insight into instabilities of fiber laser regimes leading to complex self-pulsing operations is an opportunity to unlock the high power and dynamic operation tunability of lasers. Though many models have been suggested, there is no complete covering of self-pulsing complexity observed experimentally.

Erbium-doped Mid-Infrared Fiber Lasers
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2016The performance of mid-infrared fiber lasers based on erbium has improved dramatically during the last few years. In this paper we will discuss the progress of a fiber laser that can operate on both the 3.5 μm transition and/or the more common 2.8 μm transition in erbium.

Q-Switched Erbium-Doped Fiber Lasers
2006 International Students and Young Scientists Workshop - Photonics and Microsystems, 2006A few configurations of Q-switched erbium-doped fiber lasers (QEFLs) were investigated. Two kinds of Q-switching elements - acousto-optic and electro-optic were used. We show the advantage of A-O technique with frequency shifting over the electro-optical one.

Generalized bistability in an erbium-doped fiber laser
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1998We present experimental confirmation of bistable behavior between two distinct periodic orbits in a self-pulsing dual-wavelength erbium-doped fiber laser. This result had been theoretically predicted with an ion-pair model that was valid for the description of most of the dynamic properties of this kind of laser.

Erbium-doped mid-infrared fiber lasers
Laser Technology for Defense and Security XV, 2019The performance of mid-infrared fiber lasers operating on the 3.5 μm transition in erbium has improved significantly since the first demonstration that dual wavelength pumping allowed efficient operation. In this contribution, we will discuss the progress of fiber lasers that operate on this transition with an emphasis on advances towards short pulse ...

Generation of dark solitons in erbium-doped fiber laser based on black phosphorus nanoparticles
Optical materials (Amsterdam), 2019We demonstrate the generation of dark solitons (DSs) in erbium-doped fiber (EDF) laser based on black phosphorus nanoparticles (BPNPs) for the first time.

Optimized performance of erbium‐doped fiber lasers
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 1995AbstractA figure of merit and an optimization procedure are defined, with the aim being to maximize the output power of erbium‐doped fiber lasers. Two tunable erbium‐doped fiber‐ring lasers are assembled as examples. The calculated results well agree with the experimental data, confirming the validity of the model. © 1995 John Wiley & Sous, Inc.

Cryogenically cooled erbium-doped fiber lasers
International Summer Session: Lasers and Their Applications, 2011Experiments on core- and cladding-pumped Er-doped fiber lasers demonstrate that the output power more than double when they are cooled from room temperature to liquid-nitrogen temperature, reaching 95 mW and 1.21 W for core and cladding-pumping fiber lasers respectively in the “eye-safe” emission band around 1.6 μm.

Multiwavelength Erbium doped fiber ring lasers
Optics Communications, 2009Abstract We demonstrate a multiple wavelength laser, employing wavelength dependent cavity losses, with up to four lasing wavelengths on the ITU-grid in the C-band and report on its stability characteristics. The linewidth of each wavelength was estimated to be less than 4 pm and we observed antiphase oscillations around 3 kHz and relaxation ...

Linearly chirped erbium-doped fiber laser
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2003Linear tuning the frequency of an erbium-doped fiber laser over a 46-nm spectral range is demonstrated using a rotating mirror/grating combination as one of the reflectors in a Fabry-Perot laser cavity. The rate of frequency change is determined by monitoring the fringes produced when the laser light reflects from a fiber Fabry-Perot interferometer ...
