Erbium-doped tunable fiber laser
SPIE Proceedings, 2008The Erbium doped fiber laser (EDFL) has demonstrated to be the ideal source for optical communications due to its operating wavelength at 1550 nm. Such wavelength matches with the low-loss region of silica optical fiber. This fact has caused that the EDFL has become very important in the telecomm industry.

Loop Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers
Fiber and Integrated Optics, 2000A comprehensive study of implementing erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) using a loop configuration is presented. Two different schemes based on the mechanism of directing the loop output are investigated. The amplified spontaneous emission at the output port is 3 dB lower than conventional designs.

Materials for Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers
Optical Amplifiers and Their Applications, 1991Fiber offers an extremely favorable geometry for optical devices, and fiber lasers [1] and amplifiers [2] were reported only shortly after the first bulk glass laser [3]. The choice of host composition has always been an important consideration. Silicates are the oldest and best understood glasses, and the first glass lasers used silicate compositions ...

Characteristics of an erbium-doped fiber laser
Optical Engineering, 1993A study of the erbium-doped multicomponent glass fiber laser pumped by an argon ion laser is presented. Simultaneous laser oscillation in (a) the 1535- and 1550-nm bands and (b) 1550- and 1565-nm bands were observed, and the results indicate the possibility of achieving laser oscillations simultaneously at all three wavelength bands-of interest in ...

Erbium-doped Photonic Crystal Fiber
2009Abstract : This report results from a contract tasking Crystal Fibre A/S as follows: TASK 1: Crystal Fibre will conduct research and development of large mode area, dual clad Er-doped photonic crystal fiber with the design and specifications to be provided by the HQ USAFA/DFP. The intention is to do one fiber type in both a passive and active (Er-doped)
