Modeling erbium-doped fiber amplifiers
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1991Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers are modeled using the propagation and rate equations of a homogeneous two-level laser medium. Numerical methods are used to analyze the effects of optical modes and erbium confinement on amplifier performance, and to calculate both the gain and amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) spectra.

The comparison of for different erbium doped fibers and erbium doped fiber amplifier configurations
2017 4th International Conference on Electrical and Electronic Engineering (ICEEE), 2017In this study, single-pass (SP), double-pass (DP), and double pass with passive erbium doped fiber (EDF) configurations are designed as erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). All configurations have been experimentally investigated for four different EDF.

Compact Brillouin/Erbium Fiber Laser Using Commercialized Erbium-doped Fibers
International Photonics and OptoElectronics Meetings, 2014We demonstrate a compact Brillouin/erbium fiber laser using commercialized erbium-doped fiber for both the nonlinear and linear gain. It presents single frequency, low phase noise (-124 dB/Hz1/2), and stable fast tuning.

Erbium Doped Holey Fiber Devices
Optical Amplifiers and Their Applications/Integrated Photonics Research, 2004We fabricated an erbium-doped holey fiber, and demonstrate an all-fiber laser with ultra-low threshold (~0.5mW) and amplifier providing 47 dB of internal gain. Incorporating this amplifier within a ring-laser we demonstrate a tuning range over100nm.

Saturable Absorption in Erbium-doped Fiber and Optical Bistability in Erbium-doped Fiber Ring Laser
2021 Photonics North (PN), 2021Saturable absorption in erbium-doped fiber is presented through absorption measurements using a tunable laser and variable power. Its consequent optical bistability is also observed in erbium-doped fiber ring laser with long lengths of the fiber. Higher absorption at shorter wavelengths enables a wider bistable range.
