Design Rules for Perovskite Nanocrystals: Volume‐Governed Absorption Versus Shape‐Controlled Auger Recombination

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Femtosecond TAS measurements on perovskite nanocrystals reveal how the one‐photon absorption cross‐section scales linearly with nanocrystal volume, independent of shape. In contrast, biexciton Auger lifetimes vary strongly with shape and remain constant in the weak confinement regime for nanocrystals larger than the exciton Bohr radius, offering new ...

Pseudo‐Dichroism: Nanophotonic Induction of Chiroptical Activity in Symmetric Molecular Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
By analyzing vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectra of chiral nanomaterials, we distinguish genuine molecular chirality (true dichroism) from measurement artifacts (pseudo dichroism) using a novel, robust framework. The spectral criteria we establish apply broadly to all chiroptical techniques in nanomaterial research, enhancing precision in ...

Ultrasound‐Stimulated Luminescence from Mn2+‐Activated Crystal‐Free Germanate Glasses Charged by Sunlight

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Crystal‐free glasses are demonstrated which exhibit ultrasound‐stimulated light emission. This opens the world of glasses to applications ranging from remotely triggered local light delivery to advanced sensing, thereby benefitting from universal shaping ability and versatile chemical formulations.

Investigating Book Prices in Early Modern Europe: Questions and Sources

open access: yesJLIS.it, 2017
This paper presents a summary of the conceptual framework within which a study of book prices should take place and the research issues, as well as the methodological problems, which need to be addressed. Although the nature of books as semi-industrial

Multispectral Polarization‐Insensitive Graphene/Silicon Guided Mode Resonance Active Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
CMOS‐compatible graphene/silicon active metasurfaces based on guided‐mode resonance filters are investigated. Simulations reveal a high extinction ratio (>25 dB), a narrow linewidth (≈1.5 nm), and polarization‐insensitive operation. Multispectral mid‐infrared performance is achieved via geometrical scaling.

Enzymatic Synthesis of Enantiopure (R)‐Citronellal from Geraniol via a Short‐Chain Dehydrogenase and Ene Reductase

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
A synthetic cascade with two consecutive biocatalytic steps consisting of a short‐chain alcohol dehydrogenase and an ene reductase in a biphasic system provides (R)‐citronellal with >90% conversion and >99% enantiomeric excess from inexpensive geraniol. The development of synthetic routes to produce enantiopure (R)‐citronellal as a key intermediate for
