Morphological and functional structure of two Ergasilidae parasites determine their microhabitat affinity on the gills of an Anostomidae fish from the Amazon

Parasitology Research, 2022
The aim of this study was to investigate the microhabitat affinities of Ergasilus sp. and Therodamas longicollum on the gills of Leporinus fasciatus ("aracu-piau"), an anostomid fish from the Amazon. A total of 143 specimens of L. fasciatus were examined, of which 35% had their gills parasitized by at least one ergasilid species.

Occurrence and pathology of Sinergasilus lieni (Copepoda: Ergasilidae), a parasite of the silver carp and bighead, in Hungarian ponds

Acta Veterinaria Hungarica, 2004
Sinergasilus lieni Yin, 1949, a well-known and pathogenic parasitic copepod in China and Russia, has been detected in Hungarian carp farms for the first time. The parasite infected the third-year generation of silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) and bighead (Aristichthys nobilis).

Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of Ergasilus anchoratus Markevich, 1946 (Ergasilidae) and phylogeny of Copepoda

Systematic Parasitology
The mitochondrial (mt) genome can provide data for phylogenetic analyses and evolutionary biology. Herein, we sequenced and annotated the complete mt genome of Ergasilus anchoratus. This mt genome was 13852 bp long and comprised 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNAs and 2 rRNAs.

New species and new records of Ergasilus Nordmann (Copepoda: Ergasilidae) from the gills of grey mullet (Mugilidae)

Systematic Parasitology, 2002
Four new Ergasilus species are described from five host species of grey mullet, family Mugilidae, held in the fish collections of The Natural History Museum, London. Ergasilus extensus n. sp. was found on Myxus petardi (Castelnau) from Australia, E. sittangenesis n. sp. on Sicamugil hamiltoni (Day) from Burma, E. piriformis n. sp. on Sicamugil cascasia

Therodamas Krøyer, 1863 (Copepoda: Ergasilidae) from the Piauí River estuary, State of Sergipe, Brazil

Hydrobiologia, 2001
The pre-metamorphic female of Therodamas serrani Kroyer, 1863 is described for the first time based on new material collected from the upper reaches of Piaui River estuary, northeastern Brazil. Females are present in the plankton throughout the year, and are common during the rainy season.

Studies on Neoergasilus japonicus (Copepoda: Ergasilidae), a Parasite of Freshwater Fishes : II. Development in Copepodid Stage

The parasitic copepod Neoergasilus japonicus (Ergasilidae) from a new host Candidia sieboldii (Cyprinidae) [PDF]

open access: possible, 2014
Adult females of the ergasilid copepod Neoergasilus japonicus (Harada, 1930) were collected from the fins of the cyprinid Candidia sieboldii (Temminck & Schlegel, 1846) in a pond, Higashi-Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture, western Honshu, Japan. This represents a new host record for N. japonicus and the first record of parasitic copepod from C. sieboldii.
