Storage‐Induced Changes in Phenolic Profile and Antioxidant Capacity of Functional Blueberry Beverages Enriched With Propolis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Development of functional blueberry beverages enriched with propolis extracts prepared using different solvent systems (water, glycerol–water, and propylene glycol–water). Propolis enrichment and storage conditions influenced the phenolic profile, antioxidant capacity, and physicochemical properties of the beverages during 12 months of storage in glass

Uptake and Transport of Monotropein and Monotropein Esters in a Caco‐2/HT29‐MTX‐E12 Co‐Culture Model

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 15, 17 August 2026.
Monotropein and its naturally occurring ester derivatives (monotropein‐10‐coumarate and monotropein‐10‐cinnamate) from Gaultheria spp. berries exhibit limited intestinal permeability in a validated Caco‐2:HT29‐MTX‐E12 co‐culture model. Absorption occurs predominantly via passive diffusion, with partial SGLT1‐ and OATP‐mediated uptake contribution for ...

Chemical Profiling and In Vitro Assessment of Antioxidant and Antimicrobial Properties of Algerian Erica arborea L. Extracts, Strengthened by Molecular Modeling Analysis

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2026.
Erica arborea L. from Algeria was valorized via chemical profiling and bioactivity assessment. The EtOAc extract showed the highest levels of polyphenols, flavonoids, and flavonols. It exhibited strong antioxidant (ABTS•+, DPPH•, FRAP) and antibacterial activity (S. aureus, B. subtilis).

Water and Gas Exchange Responses of Five Related Blueberry Species (Ericaceae spp.) to the Dry Season in the High‐Andean Forest of the Colombian Eastern Cordillera

open access: yesPlant-Environment Interactions, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Vaccinium, Cavendishia, and Macleania are typical genera of blueberries from the Ericaceae belt, a narrow ecosystem that connects the high Andean forest and páramo, where fragmentation makes the species more vulnerable to climate change. To answer the question of whether five related blueberry species could physiologically behave similarly in ...

Plant Domestication Affects the Oviposition Behavior and Performance of Ganaspis kimorum, a Parasitoid of Drosophila suzukii

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 8, Page 908-921, August 2026.
In this study, we investigated the effects of blueberry domestication on the oviposition behavior and performance of Ganaspis kimorum, a parasitoid of Drosophila suzukii. Domestication of blueberries reduced the oviposition‐searching behavior of the parasitoid but enhanced parasitoid performance, including offspring performance. Additionally, blueberry

Global distribution and biogeography of ericoid mycorrhizal fungi

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 4, Page 2135-2151, August 2026.
Global predictions of local ericoid mycorrhizal fungal richness, its latitudinal trends and environmental predictors. Summary Ericoid mycorrhizal (ErM) fungi play a crucial role across terrestrial ecosystems, forming mutualistic symbiosis with Ericaceae and contributing to soil organic matter dynamics.
