Biaxial deformation behavior of friction stir processed TRIP steel sheets

open access: yesEuropean Mechanical Science, 2019
In this study, effects of Friction Stir Processing (FSP) on the biaxial deformation behavior of 1.95 mm thick TRIP 780 steel sheets were investigated. FSP induced large plastic shear strains imposed at elevated temperature of about 945°C have drastically

Material and Damage Characterization of the Elastoplastic Response of the EK4 Deep Drawing Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Although EK4 drawing steel is nowadays widely used to manufacture a great variety of parts, it exhibits a marked normal and planar anisotropy that can make it difficult to control the process during its forming.

Revealing Structure–Performance Relations in Core‐Shell Catalyst‐Based PEM Water Electrolyzer Anodes with Low Iridium Loading

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Table of Contents The TiO2@IrO2 core–shell architecture ensures high electronic conductivity even at a low iridium content of 10 wt%. The resulting catalyst layer shows significantly higher iridium utilization than a commercial reference, leading to improved PEMWE single‐cell performance at low iridium loading.

3D Molding of Veneers by Mechanical Means

open access: yesBioResources, 2014
The 3D moldability of veneers, as opposed to the moldability of plastic or other materials, is limited because of the characteristics of wood. By mechanical treatment under appropriate conditions, it is possible to partially modify veneer characteristics.

Activating Paper Applying Gelatin, Starch and Chitosan Coatings Loaded With O/W Emulsions Encapsulating Rutin, Carvacrol and α‐Tocopherol

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
Emulsion type governed the microstructure and functionality of papers coated with biopolymers matrix loaded with hydrophobic bioactives encapsulated into O/W emulsions. Emulsified systems improved UV–Vis barrier and antioxidant activity, whereas gelatin coatings with conventional or Pickering emulsions provided the greatest mechanical reinforcement ...

Influence of Tramp Elements on Phase Transformations, Structure, and Properties of Scrap‐Based Steels: A Focused Review of Recent Developments

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This review explains how impurities from recycled scrap affect steel production and performance. Even small amounts (far below 1%) of these impurities can change how steel behaves during fabrication but also affect the properties of the end product. With better understanding and targeted countermeasures, these challenges can be managed, enabling wider ...
