Erosion impact on slurry pump behavior and productive life: An experimental and Numerical investigation

open access: yesWater Science, 2023
Normally, the characteristics of the main parts of a slurry pump that may be suffer from erosion under two-phase flow circumstances have been extensively and thoroughly researched.

Testing fluvial erosion models using the transient response of bedrock rivers to tectonic forcing in the Apennines, Italy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The transient response of bedrock rivers to a drop in base level can be used to discriminate between competing fluvial erosion models. However, some recent studies of bedrock erosion conclude that transient river long profiles can be approximately ...

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

Estimation of Apollo lunar dust transport using optical extinction measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A technique to estimate mass erosion rate of surface soil during landing of the Apollo Lunar Module (LM) and total mass ejected due to the rocket plume interaction is proposed and tested.

Remote Monitoring in Myasthenia Gravis: Exploring Symptom Variability

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare, autoimmune disorder characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness and potential life‐threatening crises. While continuous specialized care is essential, access barriers often delay timely interventions. To address this, we developed MyaLink, a telemedical platform for MG patients.

South Atlantic continental margins of Africa: a comparison of the tectonic vs climate interplay on the evolution of equatorial west Africa and SW Africa margins

open access: yes, 2005
The comparative review of 2 representative segments of Africa continental margin: the equatorial western Africa and the SW Africa margins, helps in analysing the main controlling factors on their development.

Clinically Relevant Outcome Measures in Women With Adrenoleukodystrophy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Adrenoleukodystrophy is a rare inherited peroxisomal disease caused by pathogenic variants in the ABCD1 gene located on the X chromosome. Although the most severe central nervous system and adrenal complications typically affect only men with adrenoleukodystrophy, the majority of women develop myeloneuropathy symptoms in adulthood.

Solid particle erosion and viscoelastic properties of thermoplastic polyurethanes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The wear resistance of several thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) having different chemical nature and micronscale arrangement of the hard and soft segments has been investigated by means of erosion and abrasion tests.

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.
