Spatial and Temporal Variability in Rainfall Erosivity Under Alpine Climate: A Slovenian Case Study Using Optical Disdrometer Data

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2021
Rainfall erosivity is one of the most important parameters that influence soil erosion rates. It is characterized by a large spatial and temporal variability.

Past, present and future rainfall erosivity in central Europe based on convection-permitting climate simulations

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences
. Heavy rainfall is the main driver of soil erosion by water, which is a threat to soil and water resources across the globe. As a consequence of climate change, precipitation – especially extreme precipitation – is increasing in a warmer world, leading ...

Use of a high-resolution-satellite-based precipitation product in mapping continental-scale rainfall erosivity: A case study of the United States

open access: yes, 2020
A rainfall erosivity map is useful for understanding the spatial variability of rainfall erosivity, and for identifying regions vulnerable to soil erosion by rainfall.

Spatial and Temporal Variability of Rainfall Erosivity in the Niyang River Basin

open access: yesAtmosphere
Rainfall erosivity is a crucial factor in the evaluation of soil erosion, significantly influencing the complex relationships among water, soil, and the environment. Understanding its attributes and variations in space and time is essential for effective

Spatiotemporal Variations and Causes of Wind/Rainfall Erosion Climatic Erosivity in Qinghai Province, China

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2022
Wind and rainfall climatic erosivities are important parameters with which to assess the possible effects of climatic conditions on erosion. In this study, wind erosion climatic erosivity (C-factor) and rainfall erosivity (Rday-factor) were calculated ...

Effect of time resolution of rainfall measurements on the erosivity factor in the USLE in China

open access: yesInternational Soil and Water Conservation Research, 2020
Rainfall erosivity, one of the factors in the Universal Soil Loss Equation, quantifies the effect of rainfall and runoff on soil erosion. High-resolution data are required to compute rainfall erosivity, but are not widely available in many parts of the ...

Safety of Daprodustat for the Treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease Anemia: Final Analysis of a Multicenter Postmarketing Surveillance Study in Japan

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This final analysis of a multicenter, prospective postmarketing surveillance study evaluated the safety of daprodustat in patients with chronic kidney disease anemia in routine clinical practice in Japan. Methods Patients who initiated daprodustat between September 2020 and July 2022 were registered.

Sediment origins in the Catamayo-Chira Transboundary Basin: impacts on Poechos Reservoir capacity under ENSO influence

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The Poechos Reservoir, which began operations in 1976 with an initial water storage capacity of 885 hm3, has undergone severe sedimentation. By 2018, bathymetric surveys from the Chira–Piura Special Project (PEChP), the institution responsible for its ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
