Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Study on Spatiotemporal Distribution Characteristics of Rainfall Erosivity in “Three-Lake” Basin of Central Yunnan

open access: yesRenmin Zhujiang, 2022
This study is conducted to explore the influence of rainfall on the characteristics of soil erosion in the “three-lake” basin of Fuxian Lake,Xingyun Lake, and Qilu Lake in central Yunnan. On the basis of the daily rainfall observation data of four ...

Influence of reservoir impoundment on rainfall erosivity in the Three Gorges Reservoir region of China

open access: yesHydrology Research, 2022
New dammed reservoirs are expected to have a significant effect on the regional hydrocycle, but the detailed patterns may not be well understood. Regional climate change is likely to cause soil erosion uncertainty by affecting rainfall erosivity.

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

Regionalization of monthly rainfall erosivity patterns in Switzerland [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2016
One major controlling factor of water erosion is rainfall erosivity, which is quantified as the product of total storm energy and a maximum 30 min intensity (I30).

Host‐Directed Biomaterials for Combatting Bloodstream Infections: From Macrocyclic Peptides to Immune‐Activating Cell Backpacks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bloodstream infections (BSI) are one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in both civilian and military populations. This paper summarizes recent progress in novel treatment strategies to manage BSI arising from both bacterial and fungal pathogens using molecules, particles, and materials to elicit host‐directed immunity.

Rainfall Erosivity Variations and Their Relationship with Sediment Delivery Changes in the Lancang River Basin

open access: yesHydrology
Rainfall erosivity is a key driver of soil erosion and sediment delivery in the Lancang River Basin, but its spatiotemporal variations and relationship with sediment delivery changes remain unquantified.
