Relationship of Focal Erosions, Bone Mineral Density, and Parathyroid Hormone in Rheumatoid Arthritis [PDF]
Objective. To investigate the relationship among focal bone erosions and bone mineral density (BMD), 25(OH) vitamin D (25OHD), and parathyroid hormone (PTH) values in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).Methods.The study included 1191 RA patients (1014 women, 177 men, mean age 58.9 ± 11.1 yrs) participating in a multicenter, cross-sectional study ...

Mapping monthly rainfall erosivity for the Lazio Region (Italy) [PDF]
Erosion is an exogenous phenomenon, antagonistic to the constructive forces both of an endogenous nature (i.e. orogeny) and of a biological nature (i.e. coral reef), leading to the dismantling of the earth's surface and filling, with the clastic material

Vertical Cylinder Density and Toppling Effects on Dune Erosion and Overwash
AbstractInteractions among waves, sand dunes, and vertical cylinders are investigated in a laboratory experiment. A cross-shore numerical model is expanded to include the drag force acting on cylinders. The hydrodynamic variables modified by the cylinders are used to predict bed load and suspended sand transport rates.

Soil erosion modelling at European scale by using high resolution input layers [PDF]
Soil erosion by water is one of the most widespread forms of soil degradation. Since soil erosion is difficult to measure at large scales, soil erosion models are a crucial estimation tool at regional, national and European levels. The high heterogeneity

SVM-Based Geospatial Prediction of Soil Erosion Under Static and Dynamic Conditioning Factors
Land degradation caused by soil erosion remains an important global issue due to its adverse consequences on food security and environment. Geospatial prediction of erosion through susceptibility analysis is very crucial to sustainable watershed ...

Influence of Lithology and Biota on Stream Erosivity and Drainage Density in a Semi-Arid Landscape, Central Chile [PDF]
Drainage density is a fundamental landscape feature that determines the length scale for hillslope sediment transport and results from the competition of diffusive hillslope and advective stream incision processes, whose efficiencies are known to vary ...
