Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Postoperative Edentulous Patients' Facial Appearance Prediction By Deep Learning Technologies
Aim or purpose: This study aims to develop a bidirectional deep learning model, FacePointNet, to predict postoperative facial changes in edentulous patients following dental restoration, thereby enhancing preoperative planning and patient satisfaction ...

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Performance Evaluation of an Efficient Double-Double BLAS1 Function With Error-Free Transformation and its Application to Explicit Extrapolation Methods [PDF]
Error-free transformation (EFT) has been recently applied to solve ill-conditioned problems. This transformation can reduce the number of arithmetic operations required compared to multiple precision arithmetic. In this study, we implement double-double (DD) BLAS1 functions with EFT and propose the application of the approach to explicit extrapolation ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Discerning protein pools by selective staining with self‐labeling tags
Cell surface proteins have an intra‐ and extracellular pool. Combining genetic fusion to self‐labeling tags that can be addressed with small molecule fluorophores allows separating these pools. We highlight recent developments and techniques for state‐of‐the‐art interrogation of cell surface proteins in the complex tissue setting.

The authors report the generation of 20 GHz, 3.0-3.5 ps transform-limited optical pulses across the wavelength tunable range 1550-1557 nm using a wavelength tunable, polarisation-maintaining actively modelocked Er/sup 3+/-doped fibre ring laser. Stable bit-error-free modelocking operation is confirmed throughout the wavelength tuning range.

In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
