Enhanced Theta-Band Coherence Between Midfrontal and Posterior Parietal Areas Reflects Post-feedback Adjustments in the State of Outcome Uncertainty

open access: yesFrontiers in Integrative Neuroscience, 2019
Medial frontal cortex is currently viewed as the main hub of the performance monitoring system; upon detection of an error committed, it establishes functional connections with brain regions involved in task performance, thus leading to neural ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Slow and Fast Responses: Two Mechanisms of Trial Outcome Processing Revealed by EEG Oscillations

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2017
Cognitive control includes maintenance of task-specific processes related to attention, and non-specific regulation of motor threshold. Depending upon the nature of the behavioral tasks, these mechanisms may predispose to different kinds of errors, with ...

Robust Code Constructions Based on Bent Functions and Spline Wavelet Decomposition

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
The paper investigates new robust code constructions based on bent functions and spline–wavelet transformation. Implementation of bent functions in code construction increases the probability of error detection in the data channel and cryptographic ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Impaired rapid error monitoring but intact error signaling following rostral anterior cingulate cortex lesions in humans

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2015
Detecting one’s own errors and appropriately correcting behavior are crucial for efficient goal-directed performance. A correlate of rapid evaluation of behavioral outcomes is the error-related negativity (Ne/ERN) which emerges at the time of the ...

Passive Brain-Computer Interfaces for Enhanced Human-Robot Interaction

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI, 2020
Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) have long been seen as control interfaces that translate changes in brain activity, produced either by means of a volitional modulation or in response to an external stimulation.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Knowledge Error Detection via Textual and Structural Joint Learning

open access: yesBig Data Mining and Analytics
Knowledge graphs are essential tools for representing real-world facts and finding wide applications in various domains. However, the process of constructing knowledge graphs often introduces noises and errors, which can negatively impact the performance

Accurate Monitoring and Fault Detection in Wind Measuring Devices through Wireless Sensor Networks

open access: yesSensors, 2014
Many wind energy projects report poor performance as low as 60% of the predicted performance. The reason for this is poor resource assessment and the use of new untested technologies and systems in remote locations.
