Robust Code Constructions Based on Bent Functions and Spline Wavelet Decomposition

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
The paper investigates new robust code constructions based on bent functions and spline–wavelet transformation. Implementation of bent functions in code construction increases the probability of error detection in the data channel and cryptographic ...

Error Probability Bounds for Balanced Binary Relay Trees

open access: yes, 2011
We study the detection error probability associated with a balanced binary relay tree, where the leaves of the tree correspond to $N$ identical and independent detectors.

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Passive Brain-Computer Interfaces for Enhanced Human-Robot Interaction

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI, 2020
Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) have long been seen as control interfaces that translate changes in brain activity, produced either by means of a volitional modulation or in response to an external stimulation.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Error cancellation

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2022
The human cognitive system houses efficient mechanisms to monitor ongoing actions. Upon detecting an erroneous course of action, these mechanisms are commonly assumed to adjust cognitive processing to mitigate the error's consequences and to prevent ...

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

A CRC usefulness assessment for adaptation layers in satellite systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper assesses the real usefulness of CRCs in today's satellite network-to-link adaptation layers under the lights of enhanced error control and framing techniques, focusing on the DVB-S and DVB-S2 standards.
