Manipulations and Errors, Detection and Localization [PDF]
We investigate the possibility of using error correcting codes in digital signatures. A scheme combining one way functions and a MDS code is presented and analyzed. We then study an attack upon this scheme and upon more general ones called "random knapsack schemes" involving a linear combination ?i T(xi,i) of the message elements xi.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Complementarity of Error Detection Techniques
AbstractWe study explicit techniques for detection of safety errors, e.g., depth-first search, directed search, random walk, and bitstate hashing. We argue that it is not important to find the best technique, but to find a set of complementary techniques.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

On the probability of undetected error for the maximum distance separable codes [PDF]
The performance of maximum-distance-separable codes with symbols from GF(1) when they are used for pure error detection or for simultaneous error correction and detection is investigated. These codes are good for symbol error detection. Their probability

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
