On aberrations and field errors
Vistas in Astronomy, 1965Abstract The stability of the objective of a long-focus refracting telescope is examined. The coarse-wire objective grating method is applied to the determination of the coma-magnitude scale distortion and magnitude errors. Both of these field errors vary between wide limits and can lead to sizeable positional errors.

Conceptual errors in the theory of field adsorption
Surface Science, 1979Abstract Serious conceptual errors are shown to exist in a new theoretical treatment of field adsorption proposed by Tsong in a recent review. A conceptual error also exists in the standard approach, in that the influence of the adsorbate on the internal energy of the source of the electric field has been neglected.

Field error instabilities in JET
Nuclear Fusion, 1994A non-rotating helical magnetic field perturbation grows in the JET plasma when the electron density falls below a minimum value. The growth of this perturbation usually leads to a disruption. The helical phase of the perturbation is reproducible for a given configuration of the applied poloidal and toroidal magnetic fields.

The Field Guide to Understanding ‘Human Error’
2017When faced with a ’human error’ problem, you may be tempted to ask 'Why didn’t these people watch out better?' Or, 'How can I get my people more engaged in safety?' You might think you can solve your safety problems by telling your people to be more careful, by reprimanding the miscreants, by issuing a new rule or procedure and demanding compliance ...

Magnetic Field and Energy Errors
2018Due to small magnetic field errors the magnetic field in any real machine differs from the ideal linear lattice studied in the previous chapters. Also, the particle energy in the beam deviates from the reference energy for which the ideal closed orbit is designed. It is important to understand what new effects the non-ideal magnetic fields introduce to

Error field experiments in JET
Nuclear Fusion, 2000Error field induced modes have been a significant concern for next step devices. Experiments on JET, using the lower saddle coils to simulate such fields, have determined the critical scaling dependences of error field sensitivity in terms of global plasma parameters, under the conditions most relevant to next step operation. These experiments indicate

The rotating wall effect on the error field induced torque and the error field shielding in tokamaks
Nuclear Fusion, 2009The electromagnetic torque on the toroidal plasma is calculated taking into account the resistive wall rotation. We adopt the cylindrical model and assume, for estimates, a linear plasma response to the applied resonant magnetic perturbation. The obtained relations are used for analysis of the error field shielding by a liquid metal wall in tokamaks ...

Estimating far-field errors due to mechanical errors in spherical near-field scanning
Proceedings of the 2012 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation, 2012When the mechanical requirements are established for a spherical near-field scanner, it is desirable to estimate what effects the expected mechanical errors will have on the determination of the far field of potential antennas that will be measured on the proposed range.

REDUCTION OF ERROR FIELD IN CHS
1989One of the most important things to design a helical system is an accuracy of the coil windings. To get the meaningful experimental results, we designed carefully and, as a result, the expected error field was reduced less than 1–2 gauss at the plasma surface when the field strength on the magnetic axis is 1.5 Tesla.
