An overview of design principles and scalable fabrication strategies for multifunctional bio‐based packaging. Radiative cooling films, modified‐atmosphere films/membranes, active antimicrobial/antioxidant platforms, intelligent optical/electrochemical labels, and superhydrophobic surfaces are co‐engineered from material chemistry to mesoscale structure

Actuation of Cell Layers in Three Dimensions
ABSTRACT The alignment of fibers and cells in living tissues affect their mechanical properties and functionality. In this context, one can draw an analogy between tissues and nematic liquid crystal elastomers. We explore this analogy by growing fibroblasts on 2D‐patterned substrates and observing the contraction of cell sheets upon detachment from the

Increased Endurance of Nonvolatile Photonics Enabled by Nanostructured Phase‐Change Materials
Tapered and segmented islands of the phase‐change material (PCM) antimony selenide (Sb2Se3) integrated on silicon microring resonators enable ultra‐low‐loss, high‐endurance, non‐volatile photonic tuning. The nanostructured PCM design suppresses interfacial scattering and thermal stress, achieving record endurance over 100 million electrical switching ...

A hierarchically structured metal–organic framework (eMIL) is shown to host the complete six‐enzyme biosynthesis pathway for the anti‐cancer pigment violacein, reshaping reaction dynamics and multiplying in vitro yields. eMIL nanoreactors deliver this reconstituted bacterial multi‐protein system into mammalian cells, where cell‐derived substrates and ...

The perspective presents an integrated view of neuromorphic technologies, from device physics to real‐time applicability, while highlighting the necessity of full‐stack co‐optimization. By outlining practical hardware‐level strategies to exploit device behavior and mitigate non‐idealities, it shows pathways for building efficient, scalable, and ...

Anion‐exchange doping of conjugated polymers is an effective way to achieve high conductivities. Here, we report over 2000 S cm−1 electrical conductivity for doped P(g3BTTT). In addition, we show that P(g3BTTT) sustains exceptionally high doping levels without any drop in the charge mobility.

The policy of the Protein Data Bank (PDB) that the first deposition of a small-molecule ligand, even with erroneous atom numbering, sets a precedent over accepted nomenclature rules is disputed. Recommendations regarding ligand molecules in the PDB are suggested.

CHAIN LADDER AND ERROR PROPAGATION
ASTIN Bulletin, 2015AbstractWe show how estimators for the chain ladder prediction error in Mack's (1993) distribution-free stochastic model can be derived using the error propagation formula. Our method allows for the treatment of the general case of the prediction error of the loss development result between two arbitrary future horizons. In the well-known special cases

Error propagation in protocol stacks
Proceedings of IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2002Error control is frequently performed at multiple levels of a protocol stack. To better understand the overall performance of an entire stack from the error control perspective, we consider an idealized model consisting of two layers. The lower layer transmits cells directly over a noisy radio channel, modeled as a Gilbert channel.
