Refractive error in unilateral Duane syndrome

Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, 2022
To investigate whether chronic co-contraction of the medial and lateral rectus muscles leads to higher against-the-rule astigmatism in affected versus fellow eyes in Duane syndrome.A database of 4,103 patients of Dr. Arthur Jampolsky was queried for diagnosis of Duane syndrome.

Inborn Errors of Adaptive Immunity in Down Syndrome

Journal of Clinical Immunology, 2020
Down syndrome fits an immunophenotype of combined immunodeficiency with immunodysregulation, manifesting with increased susceptibility to infections, autoimmunity, autoinflammatory diseases, and hematologic malignancies. Qualitative and quantitative alterations in innate and adaptive immunity are found in most individuals with Down syndrome.

Intraoperative Kounis Syndrome and Fixation Errors: A Case Report

A&A Practice, 2023
Postinduction hypotension, though frequently due to anesthetic medications, has a variety of causes. We present a case of presumed intraoperative Kounis syndrome, or anaphylaxis-induced coronary vasospasm, in which the patient’s perioperative course was initially attributed to anesthesia-induced hypotension and iatrogenic rebound hypertension leading ...

Refractive Errors in Young Children with Down Syndrome

Optometry and Vision Science, 1997
Significant refractive errors are common among older children and adults with Down syndrome. We examined infants and children with Down syndrome to determine the prevalence of these errors at younger ages. Noncycloplegic retinoscopy was used to determine the refractive state of 92 infants and children with Down syndrome, aged 4 months to 12 years.

Error-Trellis Construction for Convolutional Codes Using Shifted Error/Syndrome-Subsequences

IEICE Transactions on Fundamentals of Electronics, Communications and Computer Sciences, 2009
In this paper, we extend the conventional error-trellis construction for convolutional codes to the case where a given check matrix H(D) has a factor Dl in some column (row). In the first case, there is a possibility that the size of the state space can be reduced using shifted error-subsequences, whereas in the second case, the size of the state space

[Autoinflammatory syndromes: inborn errors of natural immunity].

Recenti progressi in medicina, 2007
The notion of autoinflammatory diseases delineates a heterogenous group of genetic pathologies characterized by spontaneous periodic systemic inflammation in the absence of infectious or autoimmune causes. The general hypothesis is that the innate immune response in these patients is wrongly tuned, being either too sensitive to minor stimuli or turned ...

Refractive errors in patients with Bardet Biedl syndrome

Ophthalmic Genetics
Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS) is a rare autosomal recessive ciliopathy. Within corneal development, primary cilia serve a critical role. We sought to investigate the association of BBS with corneal astigmatism among a cohort of patients with BBS.This was a cross-sectional, retrospective study performed at a pediatric ophthalmology department of a ...

Evolving error profiles during aphasia syndrome remission

Aphasiology, 1988
Abstract Change in expressive error patterns was evaluated in twenty post-stroke aphasic patients. Two expressive tasks (repetition and naming) completed within the first, third, sixth, and twelfth months post-onset provided the data base. Response opportunities were evaluated in reference to four error types: (1) no response, (2) phonologic, (3 ...

Pediatric neurological syndromes and inborn errors of purine metabolism

Neurochemistry International, 2010
This review is devised to gather the presently known inborn errors of purine metabolism that manifest neurological pediatric syndromes. The aim is to draw a comprehensive picture of these rare diseases, characterized by unexpected and often devastating neurological symptoms.
